A presentation on professional development: We are constantly on a journey of strengthening our character ... at least until we've decided that we're not going to grow anymore. The 8-keys of excellence is not my own,I have adopted these principles in my professional and personal life. They keep me focused and reminded of my own strengths and weaknesses. They also guide the process of reflective thinking in various situations. My favorite principle is Integrity and Failure leads to success.

Defining and Building a Strong Character
1.
2. Your strengths are not your weaknesses.
Your weaknesses are not your faults.
Your faults do not define you.
Only you can define who you are
and your character.
Your character is more important
than your reputation.
3.
4. Meaning: Choosing your thoughts,
words and actions based on what is right
rather than what is in it for you.
Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do.
5. Meaning: Think before you speak.
Make sure your intention is positive, and
your words are sincere.
6. Meaning: View failure as feedback that
provides you with the information you
need to learn, grow and succeed.
7. Meaning: Focus your attention on the
present moment. Keep a positive attitude.
8. Meaning: Staying loyal to what you
said you were going to do long after the
mood you said it in has passed.
9. Meaning: Accept responsibility for your
actions. Be accountable for your results.
Take ownership of your mistakes.
10. Meaning: This is the quality of bending
easily without breaking with a willingness
to modify or change what is not working.
Change or reach a compromise.
11. Meaning: Be mindful of self & others
while focusing on what is meaningful &
important in your life.
12. 1. INTEGRITY – Match behavior with values
Demonstrate your positive personal values in all you do and say. Be sincere
and real.
2. SPEAK WITH a GOOD PURPOSE – Speak honestly and
kindly
Think before you speak. Make sure your intention is positive and your words
are sincere.
3. FAILURE LEADS TO SUCCESS – Learn from mistakes
View failures as feedback that provides you with the information you need
to learn, grow, and succeed.
4. LIVE IN THE NOW (This is it!) – Make the most of every
moment
Focus your attention on the present moment. Keep a positive attitude.
5. COMMITMENT – Make your dreams happen
Make positive action. Follow your vision without wavering.
6. OWNERSHIP – Take responsibility for actions
Be responsible for your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions. “Own” the
choices you make and the results that follow.
7. FLEXIBILITY – Be willing to do things differently
Recognize what is not working and be willing to change what you’re doing
to achieve your goal.
8. BALANCE – Live your best life
0Be mindful of self and others while focusing on what’s meaningful and
important in your life. Inner happiness and fulfillment come when your
mind, body, and emotions are nurtured by the choices you make.
13. I choose to live by choice and no longer by chance.
To be motivated but not manipulated.
To be valuable and not become depleted.
To modify and stop the excuses.
To transcend in life and not just be a participant.
I choose self-esteem and not self-pity.
To listen to my inner voice and not the ramblings,
random thoughts or opinions of others.
To actually do the things that you won’t so I can
continue to do the things that you can’t.
I choose to find my own purpose!
The choice is all mine to make and not that of
another.
I choose to control my life and not that of others.
Yes, I am unique, aware and focused. It is my life,
right?
I choose to take back the controls
of my life. It’s my life and I own it. Therefore, I now
choose me wholeheartedly for the first time.
