Please find attached the weekly news update for this week. Feel free to send to anyone that you think will find it useful. Some valuable Driving Tips for the Icy Weather we are having over the next 2 days.
• Decrease your speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop.
• Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.
• Be especially careful on bridges and overpasses, which will freeze first.
• Don't pass snow plows and sanding trucks. The drivers have limited visibility, and you're likely to find the road in front of them worse than the road behind

• 2 Neighborhood watch programs: MP station and fill out a request form for the MPS to drive by your home to ensure its secure. Corvias housing office and fill out a request form also.
• Please secure your vehicle. The MPs are going around Ft. Riley to ensure vehicles are safe. If a vehicle is unsecure the MP/ police will put a card stating Please secure your vehicle on your windshield.
• Use Your Head Campaign – A positive approach to do the right thing for children ages 4-16 yrs old.
This is a program to which the MPS or military police officers will give children who are following the rules a positive tick which will be red in color . That ticket will then be turned in to the neighborhood office and receive a gift.
• I f you were victimized by personal property theft in the Warner/ Peterson and Forsyth neighborhoods and didn’t file a report. The Ft. Riley police have confiscated unclaimed property from the suspects. Please contact the MP station for more information.

Public Works
• Public Works is doing their best to combat and resolve the power outage issues being experienced on post, especially in the Forsyth area. When the plans were created, the power sources were only to provide power for about a third of what they currently have, so please be patient and understanding and know that they will do their best to keep the power on and get it on as quickly as possible when it goes out.
•
School enrollment information
• Please note each school has different report/start times.
Current Construction status
• Candlewood Suites Hotel
• Opening mid October 2013
• Corner of Warren RD and Jackson.
• Privatized in August 2009. This hotel is to replace aged facilities and revitalize Historic facilities.
• New Chapel in Forsyth will be completed Nov 2013.
Furlough Days at IACH
• Please be aware that the Furlough will be affecting wait times on calls especially during the Furlough days
• Beneficiaries who are not normally seen by a Division Provider will be seen at IACH Primary Care Clinics through the furlough “season”
• Due to an overwhelming call volume, the Appointment Line will only be able to book primary care appointments
• There are only a limited number of slots available for school physicals. If you do not need a SCHOOL Physical to begin school (i.e. if you only need a sports physical for a sport not starting until later in the fall or winter) please wait until after the furloughs have ended (October at the earliest) to make your appointment.
• Please check IACH’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/#!/IrwinArmyCommunityHospital) prior to your appointment to ensure the clinic is open. There have been power outages that have interfered with some of the clinics’ abilities to see patients and this is the quickest way to ensure your clinic is up and running at the time of your appointment. You may also call 239-DOCS, but due to high call volume, that should be your backup plan.

• CYSS’s Parent Central at 6620 Normandy Drive hosts a Play Pals Playgroup every Monday from 9-11 a.m. (excluding Federal Holidays) open to everyone
