Please find attached the weekly news update for this week. Feel free to send to anyone that you think will find it useful. Some valuable Driving Tips for the Icy Weather we are having over the next 2 days.
• Decrease your speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop.
• Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.
• Be especially careful on bridges and overpasses, which will freeze first.
• Don't pass snow plows and sanding trucks. The drivers have limited visibility, and you're likely to find the road in front of them worse than the road behind

Public Works
• Public Works is doing their best to combat and resolve the power outage issues being experienced on post, especially in the Forsyth area. When the plans were created, the power sources were only to provide power for about a third of what they currently have, so please be patient and understanding and know that they will do their best to keep the power on and get it on as quickly as possible when it goes out.

Furlough Days at IACH
• Please be aware that the Furlough will be affecting wait times on calls especially during the Furlough days
• Beneficiaries who are not normally seen by a Division Provider will be seen at IACH Primary Care Clinics through the furlough “season”
• Due to an overwhelming call volume, the Appointment Line will only be able to book primary care appointments
• There are only a limited number of slots available for school physicals. If you do not need a SCHOOL Physical to begin school (i.e. if you only need a sports physical for a sport not starting until later in the fall or winter) please wait until after the furloughs have ended (October at the earliest) to make your appointment.
• Please check IACH’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/#!/IrwinArmyCommunityHospital) prior to your appointment to ensure the clinic is open. There have been power outages that have interfered with some of the clinics’ abilities to see patients and this is the quickest way to ensure your clinic is up and running at the time of your appointment. You may also call 239-DOCS, but due to high call volume, that should be your backup plan.

22. McCain Holiday Home Tour
Sunday, December 8, 2013
11:00 – 5:00pm
The Friends of McCain Auditorium have announced the McCain Holiday Home Tour for
2013. The event, set for Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 11 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., is a biennial
fundraiser for McCain Auditorium and will feature five area residences and one sorority house
decorated for the holiday season. Money raised from this event will help support the McCain
Performance Series and its education and outreach activities. Selection and coordination of
homes begins as much as a year in advance to allow homeowners adequate time to plan and
prepare for the event.
“The McCain Performance Series and its outreach and education programs such as free
children’s performances are largely supported by corporate sponsorships, individual giving,
grants, and fundraising events such as the Holiday Home Tour,” said Todd Holmberg,
director of McCain Auditorium. “The tour makes it possible to present world class events at
McCain on a yearly basis. The community also enjoys touring the homes and seeing a
snapshot of the homeowner’s holiday traditions.”
The Tour will Feature:
•Kappa Delta House, 1220 Centennial Drive
•Jamie and Kim McAtee home, 2710 Heartland Valley Road
•Jim Sherow and Bonnie Lynn-Sherow bed and breakfast home, 617 Colorado Street
•Howard and Patricia Sherwood, 5140 Founders Way
•Dennis and Sally von Waaden home, 5132 Founders Way
•Kevin and Alyn Pennington West home, 321 North 16th Street
Tickets will be $20 in advance, $25 at

Committee is co-chaired by Dori
Milldyke and Jim Reed. For more
