The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!
New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

8. In Memory of Malaikye Thomas Payne – 3/29/10 – 8/15/11
Submitted by Rachel Rodriguez – Malaikye’s Grandma
Malaikye was a spunky, vibrant, happy, giggly little boy. Any time
throughout his life I was blessed to hold and spend time with my grandson,
it was priceless for me. What a feeling of being blessed beyond measures.
To see him laugh and smile, moved our hearts in a way that mere words
could not express. As Jesse and I witnessed Daniel being a father, it
brought such a joy and filled our hearts with continue pride.
Our baby Malaikye was a mere 17 months old when tragedy knocked on
our door.
I won’t go into how he passed, only to say he was a victim of murder. As
with any murder, this senseless act is unexplainable. There is NOTHING I believe my grandson
could have done that would have warranted what happened to him. I am grateful to God that He
stepped in and removed Malaikye from the life of abuse. Currently, we are awaiting trial of the
person responsible for his death. We are only a month away from trial. Thus far, we have
endured 24 court appearances, postponement after postponement but we persevere with the
Strength that only God can grant.
This year, has been accompanied by many heart breaking experiences and
also many beautiful milestones. My mind falls back to a year ago today when
Malaikye’s one year Angelversary was quickly approaching. My heart still
remained broken. I can honestly say that I still have a sense of brokenness.
Although, now, it isn’t as painful as before, it remains nonetheless. Grief over
his loss still visits me often expectantly and always uninvited. It comes in the
form of a song, in the laughter of a child, of the sight of a grandmother with
her grandchild, a smile of a little one, watching the news and learning of
another child taken in the same form, sometimes it can be something as
simple as a ladybug found at his graveside. (There have been numerous
times this has happened).
This year I decided to become an Ambassador for Donate Life to put yet another face to the
beauty of Organ Donation. It was something I decided to do a while back, but, was not yet ready
to do so. In May, after many nights of prayer and seeking God’s Will, I decided to move forward.
For me, this is a way to show my grandson and anyone in ear shot of my voice, that I have not
succumbed to rage and hatred towards those responsible for the way he was taken from us,
but it shows that I am a survivor and in and only through my Faith in God, my faith remains
unshaken.
All of Malaikye’s organ recipients are all doing well and living a more normal life now since
receiving the gift of life from our little one. We hold on to the Hope we will one day meet them.
Seven hundred and sixteen days have gone by since Jesse and I held our grandsons hand as
we said goodbye for now. He remains alive in our hearts this day and every
day. God has blessed our family with the joy of a newborn baby very soon.
Malaikye’s little brother will be born in a few weeks. He will be born with a
handsome little guardian angel to watch over him. Daniel Jr. will not
replace Malaikye, because honestly put, Malaikye is simply irreplaceable.
Daniel Jr. is our Hope Baby. Our gift from a powerful and loving God. I
have not seen a smile on my sons face in quiet sometime since Malalkye’s
passing. Today, my son Daniel, is living life to honor Malaikye’s memory.
He is engaged to a beautiful young woman who has been a God Send to
my son.
9. Cont….
Today, our grandson is physically void in our lives. We cannot go
anywhere to see him. We cannot go on shopping sprees to buy him
anything. But what we can do, is honor our grandson with our lives.
Through his passing, we see life with even clearer eyes as before. God
has touched my heart through this process. I will always be Malaikye’s
Grandmother. Bereaved grandmother will always be my title, but is not the
totality of the Woman I am through Christ. Although the loss of Malaikye is
still very apparent in our lives, we look forward to what God has planned
for us as we continue to live to honor the memory of our Malaikye.
If I could say something to him, what would that be?
Let me take a shot at it.
My Dear Malaikye,
You live on in our hearts and in the bodies of your recipients. You have not been forgotten, not
will you ever be. Your story continues to touch people. It brings a reminder to hold our loved
ones tight and not take a single moment for granted. Our faith remains unshaken
because we know that it is only by the Love, Grace, and Mercy of a Powerful God
that we are able to see the light of another day despite the darkness of our grief.
Today we remain in forward motion seeking justice for the horrific way you were
ripped away from us. Grandpa Jesse and I promised you that we would be your
voice, and we will see this through no matter how emotionally challenging this will
be.
We have a long fight ahead for us for sure. God will guide our way. Guide our way
with the Truth of your life and all you suffered at the hands of take life for granted
anymore Babyboy. You are our inspiration.
We love you beyond measures. So, this month, will mark your 2nd
Angelversary
away from us physically. Spiritually, you have never left us. In a few weeks when
your little brother is born, we will remember you. We will share with him the
memory of you. He will know who his Big Brother is. We love you our Angel Kye in the Sky.
((((((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))

I Miss Your Touch - Written by Dave Hedges
Now that you are gone, I miss you so much,
Remembering days gone by, thinking of your touch.
Inside my heart is breaking, there's nothing I wouldn't give,
To hold your hand one more time and remember how we used to live.
I never will forget you, the memories are too much,
please know that you are in my heart & that I miss your touch.

I wanted to let you know, we have entered into a new partnership with a L.A. publication,
Cuffed and Wanted. They are publishing stories about unsolved cases in the Los Angeles
area. Eventually, they hope to expand to outlying areas. If you have members with unsolved
L.A. crimes, they need to get us a release form (available on our website) and a good picture.
A brief story about the case; detectives to contact, rewards, etc. Publications come out the 1st
and the 15th of the month. We need information by about the 10 days prior to publication. They
are located in Signal Hill and I can easily run information over to them to make sure that it is
the right pixel for their paper.

CAMP GOOD GRIEF (SVP)
Camp Good Grief-Special Victims Program (SVP) is a joint effort between the San Bernardino County
District Attorney's Office Bureau of Victim Services and Loma Linda University Medical Center
Children's Hospital. The 3-day grief camp is geared toward homicide/suicide and is for children ages 10-
16 who have experienced a violent death in their family. Campers board a bus at the Ronald McDonald
House in Loma Linda and head to Camp Cedar Falls in the San Bernardino Mountains for a three-day
camp and grief therapy experience.
At camp the children participate in game and team building activities and therapeutic group activities
designed to help them learn and understand how to cope with the grief over the violent death of their
loved one. This camp has been so successful that it has been expanded to include Camp Good Grief -
Special Victims Program Teen Retreat. It will be held annually and provides grief services for teens ages
14-18 who previously participated in Camp Good Grief - SVP and whose lives have been positively
impacted by camp. It will be a combination of learning advanced grief management skills as well as a
training camp for future Camp Good Grief Peer Counselors.
Camp is free of charge to all campers and camperships are funded by unclaimed victim restitution.
Therapists and interns from Loma Linda Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic, Loma Linda Child Life
Specialists and District Attorney's Office Victim Advocates donate their time to the camp.
The Bureau of Victim Services and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital have pledged to continue
fundraising activities, presentations to service groups, and outreach events so they may continue
hosting future Camp Good Grief-SVP programs.

That Fateful day - Written by Dave Hedges
I can’t forget that fateful day, you had to leave, you went away.
A sadness filled me up inside, Emotions that I could not hide.
Tears, they came, sadness too, All my emotions, just for you.
Time will heal, so I was told, but time could never fill this hole.
But In my heart there is a place, Your always there, keeping me safe.
It’s filled with love & happy times, It’s never dark, your light it shines.
In heaven now you do reside, To watch over me with Love & Pride.
I know One day, we’ll meet again,
Until we do just know how much I miss you and you are always with me. Always.!
