Know your heating system and see what underfloor heating myths you can debunk in this short presentation and maintain the right temperature all the time.
4. Underfloor Heating (UFH)
Defined
It is a heating system to create comfortable thermal
conditions through heating the floor surface to be
radiated in the entire space.
6. Types of Underfloor Heating
Electrical Underfloor
Heating Systems
“A thin layer of filler is spread over the underfloor heating cables to obtain an even
surface and the floor is laid on this. Insulation board is always laid under the heating cable
for a really energy-efficient system. The temperature is usually controlled room by room
with a thermostat on the wall.”

7. Types of Underfloor Heating
Hydronic Heating Systems
“Hydronic underfloor heating is a central heating system and is designed to run
continuously during the (winter) heating season. It is not designed for occasional “demand”
heating. “

9. Myth 1:
- Think of underfloor heating as an investment.
- It guarantees a longer lifespan.
- Lower maintenance cost.
High Priced tha Radiators
10. Myth 2:
- It generates just enough heat for a comfortable environment.
- Heat distribution up to 25°C.
- It takes hours to heat but with correct use of control will
adjust the waiting time.

11. Myth 3:
- It can be integrated in a modern interior.
- Walls and ceilings installation are recommended for faster
room heating.

12. Myth 4:
- Traditional UHF can make your feet swell due to 35°C rise
temperature. Modern UHF now allows combination of UHF and
heat pump providing proper cooling on hot weathered days.

13. Myth 5:
- UHF prevents circulation of dust particles.
- Helps aid with people experiencing allergies or respiratory
issues.
It is Unhealthy
14. Myth 6:
- Newly designed retrofit UHF system can be easily integrated to
existing floors.
- Though, some may have limitations, retrofit wall and ceiling
can be a substitute.

15. Myth 7:
- The Carpet Foundation with Underfloor Heating Manufacturers
Association (UHMA) have conducted a study and found that UHF
can be used under carpets without restricting its usage.
- Research shows that UHF can still work efficiently with
carpet/underlay of a less than 2.5 tog thermal resistance. As
recommendation, maximum of 2.5 tog, the thinnest combination of
carpet/underlay.
