This document summarizes discussions around developing a Post-2015 Development Agenda to replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) after their expiration in 2015. It outlines two main processes led by UN Member States and the UN Secretary General to define new global goals. The Open Working Group, comprised of 30 Member States, is discussing themes for the new agenda. There have been many consultations to gather input from various stakeholders. Most recommendations call for building on the MDGs and addressing sustainability, inequality, governance, and partnerships. The water and sanitation sector has also conducted consultations and proposed four targets as part of the post-2015 agenda.
