Data has traditionally played an important role in political campaigns by identifying voter demographics and issues to target messages toward. However, with the rise of social media and focus on social issues, qualitative data from engaging directly with voters on these platforms has become equally or more important. Campaigns now must consider personal experiences and viewpoints, not just statistics, and use social media to directly listen to and engage with voters as individuals in order to understand qualitative perspectives and reach a broader audience.
