Why Dalit Foundation Following the Durban World Conference on Racism, Dalit activists and researchers felt that there was the need for institutional support in the form of a fund that would focus on providing grant support for grass-root level Dalit activists and organisations.
About Organisation The Dalit Foundation was officially launched at the UNDP Conference Hall on 8th October 2003. Head office: Delhi Operational Area: Eleven state of India Chairperson : Mr. Martin Macwan  DF work in  diverse fields of issues:  eradication of manual scavenging, empowering dalit women, education, health, legal aid, awareness generation, etc
Vision  We envision a society in South Asia where Dalit Communities, especially women, live with dignity, have equal opportunity and social and economic justice.
Mission   Our mission is to be a partner in the struggle to eliminate caste-based discrimination and ensure equality and equal rights for all. 
Objectives   Eradicate untouchability, social discrimination and caste-based atrocities, with special focus on Dalit women. Provide support for livelihood - minimum wages, education, health, housing and insurance for labourers in the unorganized sector. Rights over land, water bodies, villages, forests and other means of production. Create public understanding and favourable public opinion
Working Model Individual & Institution Provide Fund  To Dalit Foundation Dalit Foundation Supports Individual & Intuitions Working on Social issues (Marginalized)
Strategy  We support new initiatives led by Dalits in neglected areas, while strengthening existing movements and groups by giving Grants and other capacity building inputs. Promoting new leaders committed to the ideology of equality and equal rights for all and giving them financial support in the form of fellowships. The Foundation supports voluntary organizations to access Government programmes and resources especially in Northern India. Creating public understanding and favorable opinion towards Dalit issues.
