The Sensex was down 1.15% and the Nifty was down 0.86% due to continued foreign selling and concerns over company earnings. Key banking and infrastructure stocks like HDFC Bank, SBI, and ONGC declined over 2%. European markets rose slightly while the NASDAQ and Dow Jones rose around half a percent.
