5. Controls
The versioning of Cygnus has changed. The 1st number represents the ‘major’ release, the
2nd the ‘minor’ release and the 3rd represents the revision’ of the ‘minor’ release. So, a fix
to a 3.1.0 release will be 3.1.1 followed by 3.1.2. The next planned release will be 3.3.0. The
next major release will be version 4.0.0. The ‘63’ as seen below represents the build number
of version 3.2.0.
6. Controls
In a recent release the ability to start typing in a client name when creating a new job,
and having the cursor move down the list was lost. This has been reinstated.
7. Controls
There is a new setting to control the maximum height the process form can be when
opening or creating a job. These controls are in the System settings under [GENERAL]. The
below has been set at 400 on a laptop screen. The setting ‘0’ (zero) means the process
flow will stay maximised to the window in use.
8. Download Module
The issue with repeated countries in the address block has been resolved.
Now fixed, there was a condition when FieldAdd special process when used in
conjunction with a ‘post parse’ special process could cause data corruption in the new
field.
9. Dedupe and Purge Module
Using $Zip as additional criteria caused crashes. This has been fixed.
The inconsistent matching of a single name to a joint name has been removed so that
they will not match. To match these records the joint names need to be split out at
download stage and then re-joined after the process using the ‘Partner Join’ USP process.
10. Suppress Module
Some efficiency gains have been made in terms of the memory usage in extreme volume
files. The default Memory Manager settings currently cater for approximately 1.7 million
matches. To increase this the exclusive table cache size would need to be increased.
Now, without any change, the total number of matches (not records being matched) can
reach approximately 12 million
Automatic XML reports would show some example matching address as links to internal
files rather than the address. This has been fixed.
The automatic XML report examples had a tendency to be taken from a single category.
This has been changed so that the 50 examples are now spread throughout all categories.
The Qinetic trace indexes have been divided into three: new address, new occupier and
new address and occupier. Note that Qinetic updates will only be provided in the new
format, so users will need to upgrade to 3.2.0 to use refreshed Qinetic updates.
11. Trace Module
Like Suppress, the automatic XML report examples had a tendency to be taken from a
single category. This has been changed so that the 50 examples are now spread
throughout all categories.
The quick-dupe feature in the Suppress module has been extended to Trace.
12. Trace Module
Like Suppress, the automatic XML report examples had a tendency to be taken from a
single category. This has been changed so that the 50 examples are spread throughout all
categories.
The quick-dupe feature in the Suppress module has been extended to Trace.
Traces to overseas can now be split out as a separate output or blocked altogether .
13. Embedded Suppression (ES)
The menu option to put ES transaction history into the clipboard has been adjusted so that
a plethora of ‘memo’ transactions are not output. With these memo transactions in place
the resultant spreadsheet is almost impossible to reconcile. The clipboard should now
reflect an accurate picture.
When a submission is made, a CSV log file is generated at the same time to aid in
reconciling the figures. Like the clipboard discrepancy above the same issue is present in
this CSV file. This has been rectified.
The CSV file mentioned above now only contains entries for Checkout processes so should
now be an accurate reflection of the submission file itself, therefore aiding reconciliation.
14. Postal Sorts Module
TNT has now become Whistl. There should no longer be any mention of TNT on the form, in
the settings or in the reports. However, the TNT repository remains as previous (.tnt) for
backward compatibility reasons.
15. Postal Sorts Module
Secured Mail’s seed for advertising mail is now catered for and is, like the Royal Mail seeds,
controlled through the master settings.
16. Postal Sorts Module
UK Mail Zonal is now available. There is a new checkbox to control this. If selected then
the bag labels file is extended to reflect the counts. Note that any London records that
would normally fall into Zone Z will be reallocated to Zone D as per the instructions in the
Access user guide.
17. Postal Sorts Module
Mailmark
Changes to UKM service to facilitate Mailmark
Mailmark product codes have been added for UK Mail.
The Mailmark XML file for UK Mail now has an Item to Bag reference. This reference is also in the UK
Mail Bag labels file.
The ability to add a dummy (4 digit numeric) eManifest ID for Whistl Mailmark sorts has been
introduced. A number of different dummy eManifests can be maintained and selected from, or a
new ID entered (and remembered). The Cygnus Support Team will be happy to talk/walk users
through the feature. Note that command line parameters need to be changed with this new
parameter being the penultimate parameter. If these command line parameters are not modified
then the default dummy eManifest of ‘*** eManifest *** will be defaulted in the TNT upload file. If a
parameters INI file is used then the new entry is 'WhistlDummyeManifestID='.
18. Postal Sorts Module
When switching OFF the warning for a missing Advertising Mail Seed, the Planning Analysis
Report still showed the warning. Now fixed!
Since TNT changed their name to Whistl, the copying and pasting of a Whistl sort module would
leave the segment code as it was in the original sort. Now fixed!
‘Unsorted’ has been added to the sort menu. A normal selection can be made (e.g. Barcode)
and then the new ‘Unsorted’ option selected. This will sort the data as a Barcode sortation and
produce all the expected reports. The only difference being that the reports will reflect
‘Unsorted’ and for Royal Mail the pricing will be the ‘Unsorted’ prices. For a detailed
explanation on this new feature please contact the Cygnus Support Team.
Depending on the order and combination of clicks, it was difficult to achieve a ‘publishing mail’
option. Now rectified.
Please note that Royal Mail guidelines indicate that the maximum tray content weight should
not exceed 9kg. We have decided to not enforce this maximum but do advise that users
review their setting in accordance with this guideline.
19. User Specified Process (USP) Module
There is a new HouseBack2 process that replicates for Suppress what HouseBack currently
does for Purge.
The House+ option in SUPPer (Suppression Index Builder) did not work as it should. This area
has been overhauled in regard to Data Retention that caused the initial error. Further to
this, the HouseBack2 process has been withdrawn in favour of a new process called
HouseBackSuppress which is to be used exclusively for a post Suppress process.
20. 3.2 Enhancements
Suppress
Individual/Family/Address matching level options have been introduced for all categories.
This is achieved by Right Mouse Clicking the main category button and selecting from the
resultant menu.
21. 3.2 Enhancements
Trace
A new feature has been added to allow the user to block traces to overseas addresses.
These records are ignored even if there is a forwarding address.
22. 3.2 Enhancements
$Fields
New $Easting and $Northing system fields are now produced in
Download. Previously only available as a chargeable dataset,
this data is now automatically provided free of charge!
A new $Geo field has been introduced to reflect the national
region/country i.e. England, Wales, NI etc.
