Cyberbullying involves threatening, harassing, or embarrassing someone using the internet or mobile devices. It most often occurs on social media sites and through messages. Between 10-40% of young people experience cyberbullying. It is a major problem because 95% of teens in the US are online. To prevent cyberbullying, it is important to report incidents, block cyberbullies, and have open communication between parents and children about internet use. Schools and social media sites also work to address cyberbullying through support systems and policies against online harassment.

Cyberbullying is a developing phenomenon in our
society because of advanced technology and
increasing use of mobile devices
Cyberbullying is characterized by deliberately
threatening, harassing, intimidating, or ridiculing an
individual or group of individuals; placing an
individual in reasonable fear of harm; posting
sensitive, private information about another person
without his/her permission;

4. breaking into another person's account and/or assuming
another individual's identity in order to damage that
person's reputation or friendships.
It occurs:
1- On social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, Flickr,
Reddit and YouTube etc.
2- Through messages sent from one device to another
device

5. Young adolescents are increasingly confronted with
content that is not suitable for their age, as they
gain (mostly) unrestricted access to networked
information sources via computers, mobile phones,
and other networked devices (Festl & Quandt 2013).

8. A study conducted by Kehbuma Langmia and Tia
Tyree found that among the teenage girls are the
more probable to partake in cyberbullying
(Langmia &Tyree 2017).
The number of young people who experience
cyberbullying vary between 10 and 40 percent.
Twenty five percent of youngsters between the age
of 11-18 years old surveyed the last seven years
have been cyberbullied; 17 percent said they have
cyberbullied others. (Thompson, 2016)

have been bullied online, 4% have
cyberbullied others (Thompson, 2016).
Cyberbullying is a major problem because a
remarkable 95% of the teens in the US are
online and 74% own access the internet with
their device. (Thompson, 2016).

internet makes it easier for the people doing the
bullying to continue doing it over and over if it
is not reported.

1- Take a screenshot and save the evidence of
cyberbullying
2- Report cyberbullies and their inappropriate and
aggressive messages.
3- Block the cyberbully and their posts/messages
4- Parents need to have a good parent-children
relationship as that influences youngsters internet
use. (Megele 2017).

13. Have a support team in schools where bullied can
go to and find relief
Parents and teachers may pay attention to the
adolescents in order to detect any abnormal and
or unusual behavior

14. Most of the social media applications have policies and
solution strategies for cyberbullying.
Social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, Flickr,
Reddit and YouTube have tools and policies against
bullying and harassment and also information about
cyberbullying (Campbell & Bauman, (Eds.) 2017).

15. Between 10 to 40 % of young people experience
cyberbullying. Making sure that adolescents save
the evidence and report it to competent authorities
is important. Parents and teachers should also help
detect unusual behavior to prevent cyberbullying.
