 Ensuring the system of internal control for Shariah Compliance is conceptually sound and effective in implementation
in the bank as per State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) guidelines, AAOIFI Shariah & Accounting standards and instructions of
the Shariah Advisor of the bank.

 Vetting the transactions prior to its execution in order to ensure the transactions in accordance with Shariah
Injunctions and awarding Shariah approvals of almost all types of transactions (Murabaha, Murabaha cum
Mudarabah, Istisna’, Ijarah etc).
 Initiated Transaction Approval System (TAS) to prepare the computerized data and keeping records of the
transactions. This is a unique feature of Shariah Division of Burj Bank, which cannot be found anywhere else. This
practice was very helpful to award (consecutive 3 years 2010-2012) Burj Bank “AA Rating for Shariah Compliance by
IIRA”.
 Conducting and Supervising Shariah Audits of functions including branches as per approved Shariah Audit Plan.
 Formulating the Shariah awareness program and Conducting Shariah Trainings and Delivering lectures/presentations
for the development of Shariah knowledge and promotion of overall Shariah compliance culture in the bank.
