Major Project: In-Situ Combustion: Air Compressor Operations
Institution: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun
Duration: 8 months (September ’14 – April ’15)
Description: Mehsana asset (Gujarat) has seen successful implementation of in-situ combustion
technique to obtain large amount of incremental oil. However, the plant was shut
down after air coolers burst thrice in a span of a few years. This report investigates
the reason behind such occurrences, analyses possible solutions and proposes the
best solution for successful implementation of in-situ combustion.
Summer Internship Project: Dynamic Process Simulation
Company: Kongsberg Oil and Gas Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra
Duration: 8 weeks (June – July 2014)
Project Title: Building, Testing and Tuning of Dynamic Simulation Model for an Oil and Gas
Process using K-Spice®
Description: The project comprised of a set of data, such as P&ID’s, PFD’s and data sheets
regarding a real-life project being provided. Based on the same, a dynamic
simulation model was developed using proprietary software, K-Spice®. The model
thus prepared was able to simulate the overall working of the processing system.
Summer Internship Project: Artificial Lift
Company: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Ankleshwar Asset, Gujarat
Duration: 4 weeks (May – June 2014)
Project Title: Optimization and Troubleshooting of Gas Lift Valves
Description: The application of Gas Lift Valves and its related possible issues were thoroughly
studied. A case study based on data provided by the mentor was prepared and
analysed using conventional as well as modern simulation techniques. Henceforth,
improvements were suggested based on the analysis to increase the overall
profitability of the process.
2. Minor Project: Directional Drilling
Institution: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun
Duration: 6 months (August ’13 – February ’14)
Description: A working model has been successfully developed based on literature background
of directional drilling. The model has a movable rig-like structure to demonstrate
directional drilling. The model can drill boreholes having any deviation within a
range of 0 – 17.68 degrees.
