Residency: Shelter Medicine & Surgery August 1, 2011 – May 2014
Primary involvement involves operating two mobile surgical units throughout the state of Mississippi servicing
animal shelters and providing high-volume sterilization procedures. Primary duties focus on surgical
instruction to 3rd and 4th year Veterinary students, whom rotate on units and perform an average of 30-40
procedures each day per unit. Other activities include working with local shelters on intake, housing, cleaning,
disinfection, management, and treatment protocols.
Tupelo-Lee Humane Society. Tupelo, MS.
Veterinarian: Shelter Medicine December 2013 – May 2014
Provide on-site shelter medicine consulting work/education to Executive Director and employees of animal
shelter (annual intake 8,000+). Duties include intake and medical examinations, behavior evaluations, and
humane euthanasia. Large focus spent on education of employees on basic animal welfare, feeding, cleaning,
housing, and proper allocation use of current facilities. Emphasis placed on implementing changes in shelter in
accordance to ASV’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.
Advanced Pet Care of Northern Nevada. Reno, NV. December 2011 - Current
High Volume Spay Neuter Surgeon
Work in conjunction with SPCA of Reno as well as medical and hospital directors of Advanced Pet Care in
order to offer high volume low cost surgeries to low-income residents of Reno area with mission goal to help
reduce pet overpopulation. Development and implementation of HQHV surgical protocols within a private
practice setting in order offer a specialty service while having the highest economic value to clients, patients,
and practice. Routinely perform 30-40 surgeries per day.

Internship: Rotating Small Animal Shelter Medicine & Surgery
Six months rotating intern at OSU’s Teaching Hospital, six months as veterinarian at City of Tulsa’s Animal
Welfare. At the Teaching Hospital, cases were seen on different services, such as Shelter Medicine,
Ophthalmology, Small Animal Surgery, Community Practice, and Emergency. Primary duties involved student
teaching, case work-up & diagnostics, patient care, and client communication. At the City of Tulsa Animal
Welfare (avg intake of 12,000), primary duties involved medical management of all intake and shelter residents,
daily behavior assessment/evaluations, daily surgeries (including sterilizations, mass removals, amputations,
enucleations), and animal cruelty case investigation & reports.
