SDH Optical Networks:
Since 2005: Member of the team responsible for ensuring the services related to installation & commissioning of
SDH equipment and to provide the services in the scope of the 2nd Line Maintenance Contract over the Portugal
Telecom SDH network, which comprises more than 1200 SDH equipments from NEC. In more detail:
 Software installation and upgrades, technical support and maintenance of the Network Management System
(INC-100MS) installed in Portugal Telecom Management Network.
 General Technical Support on the equipments provided to Portugal Telecom (SMS-600V, SMS-2500A,
SMS-2500C, U-Node BBM, U-Node WBM, UN5000)
 Installation, Commissioning, integration and/or swap of new SDH equipments in the network.
 Execution of integration procedures of new equipments, for example: NE insertion into an existing STM-
4/STM-16/STM-64 ring.
 Support, local coordination and follow-up of Acceptance Tests of new equipments, firmware and SW
releases of INC-100MS.
 Intermediate between Customer and NEC-Japan (TAC-3 team) (for example, pending issues follow-up, bug
reporting, requesting support on troubleshooting, etc.)
 Pre-Evaluation of new SW releases of INC-100MS, in NEC-Japan, according to customer interests.
DWDM Metro: Since 2016, 2nd Line Maintenance and Technical Support in the scope of ADVA FSP3000R7
DWDM equipments and NMS, installed in Portugal Telecom
Synchronization ADVA: Since 2016, Technical Support in the scope of ADVA/Oscilloquartz equipments provided
to customers in Portugal.
Juniper: Since 2016, Customer technical interface for maintenance and technical support regarding the juniper
equipments in Portugal Telecom.
Microwave Radio Transmission
Since August 2007, occasional support in supporting new Microwave links proposals, by doing the microwave
radio planning of PDH/SDH or Ethernet mw links for telecommunication carriers in Portugal and abroad, using
Pathloss and mostly Mentum Ellipse as radio planning tools. In this area also knowledge was acquired in terms
of the equipments Pasolink NEO and 5000s and good knowledge of .iPasolink 200/400/1000, DMR-5000iPS.
Also to highlight the contribution given (as a team member) to the supervision and implementation project of
Timor Telecom Transmission Network (microwave) in East Timor in 2011 (phase I) and 2013 (phase 2) which
involved the activities of Installation & Commissioning, integration/swap and training to the customer. Equipments
used:
- Radio: Pasolink NEO and 5000S, iPasolink 200/400/1000, DMR.5000iPs
- MN series (MN1200, MN2100 and MN3100)
- Network Management Systems MS5000 and MN9100.
Other Areas:
From February to December 2008, highlight to the local co-ordination of a trial referring to NEC
FemtoCell solution, in the Sonaecom, which included the installation & commissioning and the integration
of the Gateway into Sonaecom Live network.
AFIS System
Since February/2013, ensuring the support in the scope of the AFIS System for the Citizen Card.
Cloud Computing SaaS
Since April/2014 providing the maintenance services of the NEC platform installed in Portugal Telecom for
SaaS (Software as a Service) Cloud Services.
