Assurance Engagements
As part of assurance engagement teams, I was able to work in teams of up to 20 colleagues, polished my
communication skills in dealing with both the team members and the client and gained experience of the
industry in which client operates. My key responsibilities on an assurance engagement include:
 Planning and co-ordination of engagements through supervision, training and motivation of team members
to meet stringent deadlines;
 Understanding the client’s business to assess business and audit risks and correlate observations with
business rationale;
 Coordinating with professionals of various fields including legal, actuarial and IT experts to conclude on
observations identified during the audit;
 Ensuring compliance with the requirements of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) for audit
engagements;
 Review of accounting and internal control systems and suggest improvements;
 Maintain appropriate levels of information flow to the client at each stage of audit;
 Assisting clients in preparation of Financial Statements in accordance with the financial reporting
framework applicable in Pakistan which includes compliance with International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS), local corporate laws and directives of regulatory authorities; and
 Review of work performed by subordinates and on-the-job training and professional development of staff.
