Summary Professional Profile:
My most recent role (finished in November 2011 due to redundancy) was as Product and e-
Systems Implementation/Project Manager within the Building Schools for the Future Business Unit
of Civica plc. I was responsible for guiding the direction of Civica’s Education software products to
meet the requirements for the governments Building Schools for the Future agenda. This involved
liaison at all levels with customers and Civica business units. An up to date knowledge of the
issues facing the education sector was an important aspect of my role in order that customers
business needs were fully understood and met, not only in the short/medium term but also in
meeting longer term objectives, together with identifying business efficiencies. Upon identification
of new or enhanced product requirements, I took responsiblity for validating and producing
business requirements and monitored the product development process. In addition, I was
responsible for implementing and monitoring internal procedures relating to the introduction of new
and enhanced products. For example, ensuring customers requirements are gathered, validated
and full functional specifications, end user documents are produced, monitoring software
development from inception to completion and undertaking post implementation reviews.
I was also responsible for the implementation of various e-systems within Schools using PRINCE2
Project Management methodology. This recognised structured project management methodology
ensured the school, local authority and various 3rd
party suppliers worked together to deliver
systems on time and to budget. As part of these implementations a number of integration
requirements across other systems within the schools was required. My role was to prepare the
functional specifications and outline the technical requirements to ensure seamless integration.
2. I worked for Civica for 7 years, 5 of which were within the Housing & Asset Management business
unit as a Customer / Account Manager and then as a Product Manager. These roles included
project management as and when required. The main focus of these roles was to represent Civica
within its existing Housing customer base and ensure any issues, new requirements, strategic
objectives of their organisation were progressed in an effective and efficient manner.
I have worked within Local Government for 9 years and have been involved in interpreting Central
Government Legislation into Local Government level policy, specifically relating to housing policy
and best practice procedures. I have been involved in bidding for funding from central government
for a new initiatives and produced detailed specifications to support changes in policy and working
practices relating to the new initiatives. I was directly involved in the design and implementation of
new software to support new initiatives. I am an extremely organised individual with excellent
communication skills (both verbal and written) at all levels and have the ability to understand
complex business needs.
I have experience of managing Contracts, Service Level Agreements and partnership agreements.
I have directly managed a Contracted Out service (from a Local Authority to a private sector
company) and was responsible for monitoring performance against the contract and managing any
contractual issues arising.
As a Project Manager, I practiced the industry standard Prince2 methodology to implement and
manage e-Systems integration.
I am a good team player and equally comfortable working independently. I remain calm and
focussed in stressful situations and have a firm but sympathetic approach which is vital to ensure
work is carried out effectively and efficiently.
More recently since moving to Slovakia, I have become a Teacher of English to individuals,
businesses and children. I have, to date, taught Business English to companies in the Martin area,
