Curricular Integration
Rewriting an American Classic:
Of Mice and Men
Overview of Lessons
• Many people hate the ending of the book
• This will give students the ability to put their
own “spin” on how they would like to have
seen it end
• Students will have read Of Mice and Men and
watched the movie
Basic Premise of the Lessons
• Students will work in groups
• They will have class time to rewrite the
ending
• They will then take these re-writes and
create a 1-2 minute xtranormal video of their
ending.
• They will then present their video to the class
and the class will critique their ending and
the video following the rubric for the project
Accommodations
• The lessons are broken up into different
sections that keeps the class moving
• There are many different roles that need to
be filled to complete the assignment
Assessment
• Students will be assess by both their peers
and by the instructor following a specific
rubric for their work
• Students will also fill out a evaluation form
for each group and a grade will be assigned
from the results of this form
