WHAT IS CULTURE?
➤ Organizational culture is based off of beliefs and assumptions.
These we have created on our own. They come from the
things that we hear, observe and learn.
➤ When in an organization is formed guidelines for all
individuals are formed that they can recognize for everyone to
obtain their own goals.
➤ These separate qualities that each person/place/thing possess,
is what make it unique, and separate itself. However, having
the right kind of culture can either work really well, or not
work at all.
KEY COMPONENTS FOR A STRONG CULTURE
➤ According to Organizational communication by Katherine Miller, Deal
and Kennedy (1982) state that if an organization has the components
of a strong culture, it will be a better place for individuals to work and
will improve individual and organizational performance:
➤ “Values the beliefs and vision that members hold for an
organization.”
➤ “Heroes are the individuals who come to exemplify an
organizations values.”
➤ “Rites and ritual s are the ceremonies through which an
organization celebrates its values.”
➤ “The cultural network is the communication system through
which cultural values are instituted and reinforced.”
THE CULTURE METAPHOR
➤ According to Organizational Communication by Katherine
Miller, using this metaphor we are bale to look at an
organization and find out the qualities that makes the
organization what it is. “Having the right kind of culture can
make or break an organization.
➤ “What makes Google different from apple?” What makes
Keller Williams different from Remax?

WHO IS KELLER WILLIAMS?
➤ Keller Williams is the largest real
estate franchise whom is based out
of Austin Texas.
➤ More than 150,000 Associates, and
800 market centers across the
globe.
➤ According to KW blog “Keller
Williams Realty office in 1983, and
continues to cultivate an agent-
centric, education-based,
technology-driven culture that
rewards associates as stakeholders.
The company also provides
specialized agents in luxury homes
and commercial real estate
properties.”
BELIEF SYSTEM
➤ Keller Williams believes that who you are matters. A Belief system
was created called WI4C2TS that guides how you treat each other,
and guidelines to keep in mind on how they do business:
➤ Win-Win: or no deal
➤ Integrity: do the right thing
➤ Commitment: always comes first
➤ Communication: seek first to understand
➤ Creativity:ideas before results
➤ Teamwork: together everyone achieves more
➤ Trust: Starts with honesty
➤ Success: results through people
MISSION
➤ “To build careers worth having, businesses worth owning,
lives worth living, experiences worth giving, and legacies
worth leaving.”
➤ In order to determine the directions that the company move
in, the Mission plays a large role. It make individuals clear of
the goal and the direction that the company is moving in. This
statement is part of what makes companies so successful.
VISION AND VALUES
➤ The visions of Keller Williams is “To be the real estate
company of choice for agents and their customers.”
➤ The vision helps communicate to those who are
involved with this organization, and outside as well.
When you have a clear vision you are able to move
forward effectively and efficiently.
➤ Values: “God, Family, then Business.”
➤ These core values are what help support the vision
and the culture of a company. This is a reflection of
what this company values most, which will play a
large roll in the decision making processes.
PERSPECTIVE
➤ “A technology company that
provides the real estate
platform that our agents’
buyers and seller prefer. Keller
Williams thinks like a top
producer, acts like a trainer-
consultant, and focuses all its
activities on service,
productivity, and
profitability.”
➤ This type of perspective
collectively sums up the
mission, vision, and values
that should be portrayed.
COMPANY CULTURE ARTICLE SUMMARY
➤ Corporate leaders for Keller willings are marinating
management to finances, decision-making, culture, values,
that motivate the employees. It is said that it is important for
the individual to be self-motivated and have a set of
motivations and goals for themselves. These individuals are
encouraged to reach for corporate goals.
➤ Former KW President and current boar member Mary
Tennant was quoted “We know for a fact that our systems
don’t work without our culture. We need our culture to reach
our full potential.”
KELLER WILLIAMS CULTURE
➤ An appendix in the Stanford analysis included an internal KW
document that answers the question “What is culture?” at Keller
Williams.
➤ 1. Making decisions that are right for the Market Center,
regardless of individual impact.
➤ 2. Taking a stand on an issue that is not popular, but is right.
➤ 3. Being the best co-op associate possible; always respecting
others.
➤ 4. Helping someone in the Market Center willingly and with a
smile, even though you are busy.
➤ 5.Doing something right without wanting to be recognized or
acknowledged.
➤ 6.Paying a struggling associate’s fees anonymously.
➤ 7. Complimenting other regularly.
➤ 8. Being a part of the solution and not the problem in a
Market Center.
➤ 9. Taking the high road on confrontational issues or
points of difference.
➤ 10. Handling a fellows associate’s business when
personal or family illness occurs.
➤ 11. Paying a struggling associate’s tuition to a class.
➤ 12. Speaking without profanity.
WHY IS CULTURE SO IMPORTANT?
➤ This is what separates companies from its competitors. Since
the real estate market is or fast paced and there is so much
disruption, so much competition; you could have two
companies that are so vary similar to each other, but the one
who is going to succeed increasingly more, is the organization
with the better culture.
➤ Stop looking at results, strategies, etc. Culture is what drives
strategy. Culture is what gets the results to pan out out they
are intended. Culture is the building block for all things.
GOOD AND BAD CULTURE
➤ in any culture you are going to
have both good and bad
culture. However, they key
component to stick with
things that are going to boost
the good aspects of the culture
to make sure that things that
might hurt your culture are
unable to creep in.
➤ Having a culture that is
adaptable away from the bad
culture is key.

Culture: Keller Williams

  • 2. WHAT IS CULTURE? ➤ Organizational culture is based off of beliefs and assumptions. These we have created on our own. They come from the things that we hear, observe and learn. ➤ When in an organization is formed guidelines for all individuals are formed that they can recognize for everyone to obtain their own goals. ➤ These separate qualities that each person/place/thing possess, is what make it unique, and separate itself. However, having the right kind of culture can either work really well, or not work at all.

KEY COMPONENTS FOR A STRONG CULTURE ➤ According to Organizational communication by Katherine Miller, Deal and Kennedy (1982) state that if an organization has the components of a strong culture, it will be a better place for individuals to work and will improve individual and organizational performance: ➤ “Values the beliefs and vision that members hold for an organization.” ➤ “Heroes are the individuals who come to exemplify an organizations values.” ➤ “Rites and ritual s are the ceremonies through which an organization celebrates its values.” ➤ “The cultural network is the communication system through which cultural values are instituted and reinforced.”

THE CULTURE METAPHOR ➤ According to Organizational Communication by Katherine Miller, using this metaphor we are bale to look at an organization and find out the qualities that makes the organization what it is. “Having the right kind of culture can make or break an organization. ➤ “What makes Google different from apple?” What makes Keller Williams different from Remax?

WHO IS KELLER WILLIAMS? ➤ Keller Williams is the largest real estate franchise whom is based out of Austin Texas. ➤ More than 150,000 Associates, and 800 market centers across the globe. ➤ According to KW blog “Keller Williams Realty office in 1983, and continues to cultivate an agent- centric, education-based, technology-driven culture that rewards associates as stakeholders. The company also provides specialized agents in luxury homes and commercial real estate properties.”
  • 7. BELIEF SYSTEM ➤ Keller Williams believes that who you are matters. A Belief system was created called WI4C2TS that guides how you treat each other, and guidelines to keep in mind on how they do business: ➤ Win-Win: or no deal ➤ Integrity: do the right thing ➤ Commitment: always comes first ➤ Communication: seek first to understand ➤ Creativity:ideas before results ➤ Teamwork: together everyone achieves more ➤ Trust: Starts with honesty ➤ Success: results through people

MISSION ➤ “To build careers worth having, businesses worth owning, lives worth living, experiences worth giving, and legacies worth leaving.” ➤ In order to determine the directions that the company move in, the Mission plays a large role. It make individuals clear of the goal and the direction that the company is moving in. This statement is part of what makes companies so successful.

VISION AND VALUES ➤ The visions of Keller Williams is “To be the real estate company of choice for agents and their customers.” ➤ The vision helps communicate to those who are involved with this organization, and outside as well. When you have a clear vision you are able to move forward effectively and efficiently. ➤ Values: “God, Family, then Business.” ➤ These core values are what help support the vision and the culture of a company. This is a reflection of what this company values most, which will play a large roll in the decision making processes.
  • 10. PERSPECTIVE ➤ “A technology company that provides the real estate platform that our agents’ buyers and seller prefer. Keller Williams thinks like a top producer, acts like a trainer- consultant, and focuses all its activities on service, productivity, and profitability.” ➤ This type of perspective collectively sums up the mission, vision, and values that should be portrayed.
  • 11. COMPANY CULTURE ARTICLE SUMMARY ➤ Corporate leaders for Keller willings are marinating management to finances, decision-making, culture, values, that motivate the employees. It is said that it is important for the individual to be self-motivated and have a set of motivations and goals for themselves. These individuals are encouraged to reach for corporate goals. ➤ Former KW President and current boar member Mary Tennant was quoted “We know for a fact that our systems don’t work without our culture. We need our culture to reach our full potential.”
  • 12. KELLER WILLIAMS CULTURE ➤ An appendix in the Stanford analysis included an internal KW document that answers the question “What is culture?” at Keller Williams. ➤ 1. Making decisions that are right for the Market Center, regardless of individual impact. ➤ 2. Taking a stand on an issue that is not popular, but is right. ➤ 3. Being the best co-op associate possible; always respecting others. ➤ 4. Helping someone in the Market Center willingly and with a smile, even though you are busy. ➤ 5.Doing something right without wanting to be recognized or acknowledged.
  • 13. ➤ 6.Paying a struggling associate’s fees anonymously. ➤ 7. Complimenting other regularly. ➤ 8. Being a part of the solution and not the problem in a Market Center. ➤ 9. Taking the high road on confrontational issues or points of difference. ➤ 10. Handling a fellows associate’s business when personal or family illness occurs. ➤ 11. Paying a struggling associate’s tuition to a class. ➤ 12. Speaking without profanity.
  • 14. WHY IS CULTURE SO IMPORTANT? ➤ This is what separates companies from its competitors. Since the real estate market is or fast paced and there is so much disruption, so much competition; you could have two companies that are so vary similar to each other, but the one who is going to succeed increasingly more, is the organization with the better culture. ➤ Stop looking at results, strategies, etc. Culture is what drives strategy. Culture is what gets the results to pan out out they are intended. Culture is the building block for all things.
  • 15. GOOD AND BAD CULTURE ➤ in any culture you are going to have both good and bad culture. However, they key component to stick with things that are going to boost the good aspects of the culture to make sure that things that might hurt your culture are unable to creep in. ➤ Having a culture that is adaptable away from the bad culture is key.
