Stem, leaf, leaf buds, and roots can be used to propagate new plants from existing ones through vegetative propagation. Cutting propagation involves taking cuttings from certain plant varieties and rooting them to form new plants. The type of cutting taken, such as hardwood, semi-hardwood, softwood, or herbaceous depends on the plant. Rooting success is influenced by internal factors like the plant's nutrition, age, and growth rate as well as external environmental factors like temperature, humidity, and the rooting medium. The rooting process involves dedifferentiation of cells, formation of root initials, and development of root primordia and vascular connections between the cutting and the new roots.
Plant propagation involves creating new plants through both sexual (seeds) and asexual (vegetative) means. The main methods of plant propagation are sexual propagation using seeds, and asexual propagation using vegetative structures like cuttings, layering, and grafting. Cuttings involve taking plant parts like stems, leaves, or roots and regenerating a new plant. Layering involves burying a stem or branch to encourage root formation from that part. Grafting involves joining plant parts so they unite and grow as one plant. Each method has advantages and disadvantages for different plant types.
This document provides information on the cultivation of three crops: fenugreek, leek, and chayote.
It describes two varieties of fenugreek, their growth habits, recommended fertilizer and manure application, and control measures for common pests and diseases. For leek, it outlines varieties, growing conditions, nutritional value, cultivation practices, and insect and disease management. Finally, it discusses chayote varieties, climate needs, cultivation from seed, yield, uses, nutritional profile, and control of downy mildew and anthracnose.

Floral formulas and diagrams are used to concisely summarize key characteristics of flower structures. Floral formulas use symbols to describe floral symmetry, number of sepals, petals, stamens and carpels. Additional symbols indicate features like connation, adnation, ovary position and more. Floral diagrams are cross-sectional illustrations that similarly show symmetry and part relationships, but cannot show ovary position like formulas can. Together, formulas and diagrams provide useful shorthand for comparing angiosperm flower characteristics.
Pigeon pea is a legume crop originating from Africa. Pruning grapevines is one of the most important and time-consuming vineyard operations. It regulates the form, size, vigor, yield, and quality of the grapes. Pruning involves leaving buds, called "count nodes", from the previous season's growth that will produce the next season's fruiting canes. Shoots grow from buds in the spring and develop into hard, brown canes after fruiting. Only canes originating from count nodes left during pruning will produce fruit; watershoots from dormant buds are not fruitful. Proper grapevine pruning is essential for high-quality grape production.

Cultivare inmultirea speciilor pomicole
(fig. 5.3).
(fig. 5.5).
- obţinerea unei descendenţe uniforme şi identice cu planta mamă;
- scurtarea perioadei de tinereţe şi îmbunătăţirea calităţii fructelor;
- posibilitatea de obţinere a pomilor de vigoare diferită în funcţie de portaltoiul folosit;
plasticitate mare;
de metoda de altoire folosită;
- posibilitatea schimbării sortimentului prin supraaltoire în coroană;
- altoirea cu mugur (oculaţie);
- altoiul şi portaltoiul să fie sănătoşi, fără cicatrici de boli sau grindină, liberi de viroze;
bună, fără necroze ale liberului, etc);
- operaţia de altoire să se execute corect, cu unelte bine ascuţite şi cât mai repede;
altoiului cu portaltoiul (zona dintre scoarţă şi lemn);
- să existe afinitate fiziologică între altoi şi portaltoi;
doua de 2,5-3 cm. Se desface uşor scoarţa cu spatula pentru a favoriza introducerea altoiului;
scutişor de scoarţă (fig. 5.7 b şi e) şi introducerea lui sub scoarţa portaltoiului ;
