In case you need a refresher...MCWILLIAMS
ANDSIEGEL'S
DEFINITION
CSR is defned as “actions that appear
to further some social good, beyond
the interests of the frm and that which
is required by law.”
But you already knew that because...
Building a No Kill
Community
Transforming
Animal Welfare
Ending
Homelessness
We care about the lives of every
single animal, which is why
through solutons-based models
we aim to set a higher standard
for the way animals are treated.
Not just providing a connecton for
homeless pets to fnd their
“furever” home, but to stop
homelessness at its source. We
aim to end overpopulaton of
homeless animals through our
spay and neuter programs.
We serve to spread awareness about the
No-Kill mission and to make this a
standard in all communites--startng
with making Chicago a No-Kill city.
We are passionate about saving the lives of animals.
Why not extend this to our ENVIRONMENT as well?
The amount of Co2 emissions per
vehicle per year (epa.gov).
32 The amount of plastic waste
generated in the United States in
2012 (epa.gov).
million tons
4.75metric tons
The good news is...
And it wont cost us a whisker and a tail.
we can help change this
Two Simple Initiatives
Recycling is important-- not only do we generate a lot of our own waste that
can be recycled, but we can help out in other ways as well through
implementng plastc bag and aluminum can recycling programs.
Rolling out a bike program will promote wellness among our volunteers
while also taking more cars of the road!
Healthy Volunteers = Healthy PAWS
We want to promote wellness
while also decreasing the necessity for cars to be on the road.
This program will start off as a
“Volunteer Bike Week” to gain
interest in the idea.
When volunteers sign in for their
shift, there will be a special section
where they can indicate that they
rode their bike that day—we trust
that our volunteers will tell the
truth! Special prize incentives will
be given out quarterly to
those who have the most
days recorded. This could
be anything from a PAWS T-
Shirt to a gift card.
We generate a lot of waste.
AND I'M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT YOU KNOW WHAT
These are all things
that can and should
be recycled!
By placing more recycling bins around our facility we can help further
promote the recycling of these items.
This will help create a cleaner facility and a cleaner environment.

Recycling can even make us $$$$
NO, I'M NOT KIDDING
We can encourage volunteers and
those who enter our facility to bring
their aluminum cans when they come
in, and drop them into a collection bin.
Once we have enough cans,
volunteers can take the loads to a
collection facility. We're keeping these
cans out of landfills while at the same
time getting paid to do so!
We use tons of plastic bags for dog
waste and kitty litter. Our volunteers
already bring some in, but we should
engage the community in this as well.
If our surrounding community knew
that we have use for them, it will not
only encourage people to come into
our facility, but also expand the
lifetime of each bag, keeping them out
of landfills. Plus it saves us from
having to buy bags!
Frequency of biking will be immediately recorded through
our volunteer software when volunteers sign in for shifts.
This will help us to monitor effectiveness and be able to
easily alter our approach if we see that not enough
volunteers are gaining interest in the program.
Monitoring.
We will keep strict records of when aluminum drop-offs take
place and how much each load was worth. We will also keep
a buying record of waste bags to indicate whether or not
plastic bag donations are decreasing the necessity for
buying new bags.
By working together on these initiatives
and aiming towards bettering the
environment, we can decrease our carbon
“paw-print” and gain even more respect
from our surrounding community.
We are earth friendly.
