Walmart launched its Women's Economic Empowerment initiative in 2011 to help increase women's economic opportunities around the world. The initiative aims to train nearly one million women on farms and in Walmart's workforce in areas like job skills, communication, health, and safety. It also seeks to create a more inclusive workplace and help identify and develop female talent without gender bias. Tufts University is evaluating the effectiveness of the program in several countries under a grant from the Walmart Foundation.
