The list of A1 priorities as a socially
responsible business includes assistance to
children and support for national self-
identification.
The company takes pride in a long charity and
children aid history, and also implements large-
scale social educational projects.
A1 also takes efforts to rediscover Belarusian heritage:
traditions, history, culture and other elements of the
national heritage. The company pays special attention
to the most important Belarusian artifacts, such as the
Belarusian language, national arts and pristine nature
Projects:
➔ The #velcombegom - to help children's health care institutions,
promote healthy lifestyles, and popularize running
➔ Light It Up Blue - an international campaign held on 2 April to
support people with autism
➔ The I see! project - to assist in the timely diagnosis and detection
of early visual impairments in school-age children residing in
rural areas
Projects:
➔ Belarusian Weekends - lots of movies were translated and
dubbed into Belarusian.
➔ The velcom YOUTH - social and outreach project for high
school students who want to make a difference in this world.
The project was launched in partnership with the Ministry of
Education of the Republic of Belarus and the organizers of
the TEDx Minsk conferences.
➔ In 2019, A1 became the general partner of the 100th season
of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre.
Projects:
➔ In the summer of 2016, velcom launched a solar power plant comprising 85,000
solar panels near Bragin (Gomel Region). The plant was built in the area that was
affected by the Chernobyl disaster and is therefore unfit for agriculture. To
connect all of the solar modules, velcom laid about 800 km of cable lines.
➔ In October 2017, velcom launched
the first solar-powered base communications
station in Belarus in the Luban District
of the Minsk Region.
Our ideas how to improve CSR of A1:
1. reduction in the amount of paper used and
wasted
➔ Copy on both sides of the paper
➔ Buy recycled paper
➔ Store office files digitally
➔ Get rid of needless reports and reduce report sizes
2. Permit remote work
➔ therefore reduce the negative impact of
automobile traffic
➔ decrease employee satisfaction

Conclusion
● CSR strategy of A1 is well developed. The company have leading position
within CSR business in Belarus.
● It pays attention mostly on assistance to children and support for national
self-identification.
● To improve its CSR strategy the company can
implement more environmentally friendly ideas.
