Crystal Skull Ronald N. Finney November 12, 2018 Often, we tend to believe a myth, lie, fake news, legend or other incredible statements rather than search for the truth or evidence to support claims presented by individuals that seek to make profit or become famous. The myths of the crystal skulls are such an instance. Throughout the 19th and 20th century there were different archaeologists and businesspeople who claimed to have found crystal skulls from pre-Columbian Mesoamerica that had mystical powers. Some legends held that the skulls were of extraterrestrial origin and that there was no way they could have been made by man. Some legends held that the skulls were omens of doom while others claimed that the skulls had healing and supernatural powers. However, each skull that has been examined has been found to be man made and possess no real mystical power outside of the ability to peak the human imagination. The faith or confidence that people put in the alleged authenticity of the crystal skulls and the bogus prophecy is no different that the faith that people put in other religious ideology. This paper will examine different occurrences where crystal skulls were presented to the masses claiming to have different mythical powers only for them to later be proven false. .
