READING
AS A REASONING
AT THE END OF THE SESSION, THE LEARNERS
SHALL BE ABLE TO:
1. Define critical reading;
2. Apply critical reading and reasoning in a
text read; and
3. Appreciate the importance of critical reading
in improving one’s writing.

The teacher will call at least five (5) students to share some of the
readings they have read. They will state its message and the lessons
learned from that reading article.
With the use of a certain passage as an example, the teacher will group
the students into three (3) to discuss the lesson of the day. Groupings
shall be based on their seats to avoid any form of noise.
Group 1: What the text says
Group 2: What the text describes
Group 3: Interpretation of the text

you should be able to take notes, paraphrasing- in your
own words- the key points.

have understood the text sufficiently to be able to
use your own examples and compare and
contrast with other writing on the subject in hand.

the text as a whole.
