GDC Microtalks 2014 - Community Buildingemily_greer
The document discusses how the speaker found a sense of community and belonging through joining a recreational softball team as an adult. It started as a way to be social but over 7 years the team became a major support system, organizing various social activities. The speaker discusses how communities form through regular, convenient interactions that make people feel needed and connected. Qualities like shared goals, conversations beyond just interests, and allowing different engagement levels help communities thrive. Size is important too - groups need some organizers and minimum 10 members but larger than 150 loses intimacy unless subgroups form. When all these factors come together, it can create magic and deep attachment to the community.
El free jazz surgió en 1960 de la mano de Ornette Coleman y supuso una revolución en el jazz al cuestionar sus fundamentos y desarrollo histórico. En los primeros años 60 ganó popularidad a pesar de las críticas que decían que "no era música". For Children's Hospital: This involves victims (the family) and likely high damage due to the serious medical outcome. An appropriate initial response would be mortification - express regret/apology for the outcome and commit to investigating how it occurred to prevent future occurrences.

This document outlines best practices for nonprofit communication during a crisis. It discusses developing a crisis communication plan and team before an emergency happens. The plan should determine operational and communication responses, and identify key audiences that need information. During a crisis, the nonprofit should provide accurate information to the media and through its own channels. Messages should explain what is happening, share the organization's story and values, and answer questions. After the crisis, the nonprofit should keep stakeholders informed as recovery happens, encourage advocacy, and use the challenge as a fundraising opportunity to rebuild trust over time.

3. Introduction
March 21, 2016
To the brothers of Zeta Psi:
The following Crisis Communications Plan has been developed to ensure the chapter will be prepared for a
crisis. This plan should be used as guidance and a manual should a crisis occur.
Unfortunately, unplanned situations will occur, and for the best interest of the fraternity, we must understand
preparation is necessary.
The fraternity is the oldest of its kind and holds a sacred place in the business world. Alpha Kappa Psi
Professional Business Fraternity is a premier business developer and includes many business leaders across
the country.
In the near future, we must continue to mold and build the world’s business leaders. The Crisis
Communications Plan provides the components necessary for an effective strategy should the Zeta Psi
chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi face a crisis in the future.
I am proud of brothers in good standing who work diligently for the fraternity. These individuals had a
successful venture in the past and a solid foundation for great things to transpire in the near future.
Sincerely,
De’Sean Keys
President, Zeta Psi
4. Acknowledgements
We, the executive board listed below, have read and been informed about the importance,
requirements, and obligations of the Crisis Communications Plan for the Zeta Psi Chapter. I have
carefully read, analyze, and willingly agreed to adhere to the procedures of the Crisis
Communications Plan.
If any questions shall arise, I understand I direct those requires to Compliance Officer, or a member
of the Crisis Communications Team.
Should a crisis occur, it is the responsibility of brothers to follow the guidelines instructed in this
document.

5. Rehearsal Dates
It is essential and crucial that the Crisis Communications Plan be rehearsed regularly to ensure
comprehension and understanding shall a crisis occur.
The plan should be included within the chapter’s agenda and rehearsed twice a semester to
guarantee new members know their expectations when facing a crisis.
This thorough practice will teach brothers to treat the plan as if a real-life crisis has taken place.
The dates determined for a simulation of a crisis:
• Wednesday, April 20, 2016
• Wednesday, September 14, 2016
These dates are important because they are after a pledge class been initiated into the fraternity and
before a rush process of the next pledge class. The two dates allow time for new brothers and
reactivated brothers to become familiar with Zeta Psi Crisis Communications Plan.
The number of times of rehearsal does not compare to the timing of a crisis. Therefore, potential
occurrences must be analyzed and simulated periodically. This plan makes Zeta Psi proactive against
a potential crisis.
6. Purpose & Objectives
Purpose:
In a crisis, the chapter must be honest and open with information and details given to the brothers
and media. For a guarantee to return to normalcy, the chapter must be transparent about the crisis.
To recover successfully, we must get information out the media and continue to run the chapter’s
business.
Objectives:
1. To be seen on campus and in the media as a fraternity who cares about its members and
fellow peers;
2. To make all communications accurate and thorough;
3. To showcase unity and brotherhood but hold brothers accountable; and
4. Remind our publics that we are college students who are making strides into adulthood and
