Creativity
- 1. I feel like my creativity level has increased this year in particular because my ideas were more thought through and just generally more creative, for example my exploration into different genres or hybrid genres (surrealism and horror). To produce my film I first went through the process of deciding which idea to develop. To do this I made a questionnaire and developed a narrative for two of my ideas. One way I was more creative was to apply conventions from typical horror and surrealist films but also challenge other conventions such as having a female protagonist that fights back, I did this not only to take a different approach but when researching other short films I noticed that females aren’t presented as main protagonists in many of the ones I watched so I wanted to apply that to my short film. Creativity In my opinion the most creative part of my production was producing my ancillary tasks. I had to produce my own picture for the poster, which I did with my friends photography, it was quite a disturbing image which fitted the genre my poster was representing. The magazine review also challenged my creativity as I not only had to replicate a real magazine but I had to write my own review, which I did quite well. My production was reflective in my own personal interests and creativity as the horror genre is my favourite genre of film, I find them more exciting to write and film in general so this definitely was reflected in my production. I decided to keep some of the typical horror trademarks with elements of surrealism to make a creative approach to my coursework that was both challenging for me and fun for me to work on.
