JUST DO IT!
Maybe it’s part of our human nature, or maybe it’s because we enjoy the drama that comes
with a penalty or the distress. The fact is that, at some point or another, everybody does it.
Yes, I’m talking about procrastination, the action of delaying or postponing something. It
can go from finishing an assignment in the nick of time, to do the suitcase an hours before
leaving. And you question yourself, “How did I put myself through this again?”
Many people make excuses and affirm that they don’t have enough time to do everything.
However, even though nowadays society is quite burdening, this is not a reason for
procrastinating. As my grandmother says, the day is long enough to do many things. And,
eventually, it is true. Thanks to the current coronavirus situation, I have realised that a day
can be extremely long and many things can be done. Actually, the more you procrastinate
the less time you have. As the proverb says: “Procrastination is the thief of time”.
Another common reason for leaving things for the last minute would be that the assignment
is too hard. It is a fact that we tend to avoid difficult things. Thus, if we have to do a arduous
task, we postpone it, as if later we would know how to do it. However, the more you
postpone the task the more challenging it will get.
To conclude, I would say that, as far as I’m concerned, it’s essential to be conscientious in
order to to overcome the laziness and sluggishness. If you have to do something, do it as
soon as possible. Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do it today. And don’t think too
much about it. Just do it!
