6. Prewriting
 Select a topic that you or your instructor may consider to be suitable for a specific
activity.
 Brainstorm or jot down your ideas using key words & phrases in the form of flow
charts, mind maps or plot lines.
 It is important to consider your audience as well as the purpose of your written
piece text (Asif, 2015)

7. Drafting
 Organize your points and ideas in a coherent manner.
 Use logical sentences to form thesis statements and well structured paragraphs.

 Include supporting details to your main ideas in order to make your text
interesting while considering your audience
NB: In this stage grammar, punctuation and spelling are not the fundamental
focus.

8. Revising
 Work towards polishing your written text by removing errors, adding meaningful points and replacing certain
words if necessary.
 Share the text with peers in order to get feedback. (Stag, 2014)

9. Editing
 In this step we focus on fixing errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar.
 Understand the requirements for writing, structure your ideas authentically and
ensure that you have written about what you are confident about (factual based
ideas) & avoid unrealistic points.
 Write in full sentences and ensure that the concord of the sentence is correct.
 It is important to ensure that you avoid a repetitive sentence structure, the
overuse of adjectives & adverbs, slang & clichés as well as ambiguity.
 Proofreading or checklist may be used for the final text. (Muri, 2008)

10. Editing continued;
 Ensure that you finish off your text by re-reading and checking for
appropriateness in your work.

11. Presenting and Publishing
 In this stage, your written text will be assessed by your instructor once you have
presented it verbally to the audience or non-verbally by handing in your work.
 Publishing does not necessarily refer to printed releases to the public but could
relate to sharing your written text with others either in the learning environment
or online submissions. (Stiles, 2008)

12.  Always remember that writing is a repetitive process, consider the significance of
all steps and keep on practicing.

*If learners are allowed to share their narratives, their stress and anxiety can be alleviated.
*Skills such as problem solving can be boosted by creative writing practices.
*Better communicators are established by creativity, while providing various and broader opportunities from
the classroom context as a lot of innovation can be involved.
*Creative writing and presentations contribute largely to social transformations as this is one of the
curriculum's aims.
