An embryo is in the early stages of development in its mother's womb. It is connected to the yolk sac which provides nutrients in the first weeks, and later receives nutrients through the umbilical cord. As it floats in the uterus, it grows limbs and organs over weeks and months, moving and developing until it is ready for birth after around 40 weeks of gestation.
