2. While it can be fun to enjoy family traditions each
holiday, it can also be enjoyable to create new
traditions of your own. If you’re feeling stressed out or
overwhelmed by the pressure that the holidays can
bring, it may be time to think about coming up with
some traditions that are a better fit for your family. As
you plan out the holidays this year, keep these ideas in
mind:

4. It may be difficult to have things
precisely the way you want them, due to
medical stress, travel restrictions, and
specific products being limited in stores.
Instead, consider choosing an enjoyable
activity that everyone can enjoy and
making that the focus of your time
together. Can you all spend time making
cookies, playing board games, or
watching holiday movies? Is there
another activity that everyone might
enjoy?

5. STAY FLEXIBLE

6. Flexibility is a key component of keeping
the holidays low stress. Things may not
turn out just right, so it’s important to
focus on what you do have and what you
are able to accomplish, instead of what is
missing. Approaching this holiday season
with flexibility and good humor will go a
long ways toward making it a time that
everyone can enjoy.

8. It’s important to keep your overall goals in mind as
you enter the holiday season. Do you want to spend
time with your family? How can you make that
happen? Are religious ceremonies important to you?
What are some ways that you can bring these special
ceremonies into your holiday routine, even if you’re
unable to attend services? Keeping your goals in
mind and maintaining a positive attitude can help
make this the best holiday season yet.
It’s easy to get bogged down in small details and get
stressed out and frustrated by the holidays.
However, if you stay flexible and focus on alternative
ways to achieve your holiday goals, you may find that
you’re able to plan a fun, festive season that
everyone in your family can enjoy. While some
traditions can still happen, this can also be the year
that you build new traditions of your own, focused
on your goals for your family and what you’d like the
holidays to mean in your home.
