The document discusses various topics related to digital images, including:
1. Image resolution, which refers to the detail an image holds and can be measured in lines per unit or angular subtenant.
2. The difference between vector and raster graphics, with raster images composed of pixels and vector images composed of paths, allowing vector images to scale without losing quality.
3. Common file formats like TIFF, PNG, GIF, JPG, and their uses, strengths, and limitations, such as GIF and JPG being primarily used for web images currently.
Pixel art uses raster graphics edited at the pixel level and was commonly used in early video games. Isometric pixel art uses a 22.6 degree angle to provide a 3D view without processing. Concept art conveys visual representations of designs before a product is finalized. Texture art adds surface detail through bitmap images mapped onto 3D models or backgrounds. Background graphics appear behind main objects and use textured images like walls. Print media art includes posters and game covers important for advertising.
This production log documents Sam Gregory Haigh's progress on their final major project for a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production in Games Design. The project involves proposing plans for a new stadium for Bury FC. Over the period from February 10th to March 12th, Sam created blueprints, researched locations, developed audience profiles, drafted emails to the club, posted online forums, storyboarded a flythrough, and began modeling objects for the flythrough. They received positive feedback from friends and a reply from Bury FC expressing interest in reviewing the plans.
The target audience for Sam Gregory-Haigh's football media product (FMP) is primarily Bury FC fans aged 16-30 from any background. Quantitative research in the form of an online forum post found that most fans want a new stadium, though some feel attached to the current one. Qualitative research through interviews with friends also found 4 in favor of a new stadium while 2 opposed due to personal connections. The key demographics are males from Bury and Greater Manchester who regularly attend Bury FC matches. The psychographic includes those with stable, happy routines including regular match attendance.
Sam Gregory Haigh is creating a final major project for their BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production in Games Design. The project log documents Sam's progress on developing a virtual stadium for Bury FC, including creating blueprints for the pitch and seating layout, researching a suitable location, surveying friends for suggestions, uploading questionnaire answers to a blog, making pitch plans, and finalizing a stadium location and architecture research. Sam also created a presentation on audience profiling and sent an email to Bury FC about the project while awaiting a reply.
Sam Gregory Haigh is a student at Salford City College Eccles Sixth Form Centre pursuing a BTec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production in Games Design. According to his production log, he has created blueprints for a football pitch including sizes and seating layouts to accommodate both fans and press. He has also searched Google Maps for a suitable location to build the stadium but found no available spaces, so he will design the stadium location instead. He shared his stadium plans with friends who are Bury fans, and they approved of the idea but suggested keeping the stadium near the center of Bury.
The document discusses different types of research and audience profiling for a media product. It defines quantitative research as the systematic empirical investigation of social phenomena using statistical techniques. Qualitative research aims to gather an in-depth understanding of human behavior and decision-making. Audience profiling considers factors like age, gender, income, interests and habits to define a target audience. Demographics provide quantifiable statistics about a population, while psychographics study personality, values, attitudes and lifestyles.

While the artist felt they did not match the tones exactly, they were overall quite happy with how it accurately represented the piece they aimed to recreate.

The document summarizes the process of modeling a 3D foyer environment in Lightwave. Key steps included:
1. Creating a basic shell of the building using measurements and reference photos, then extruding walls and slicing a hole for the door.
2. Modeling furniture items like chairs, a table using basic shapes, and a magazine stand using rotated boxes for its shelf system.
3. Adding more detailed objects like bins with beveled rounded edges, plant pots with extruded and inward shapes, and a wall with beveled window sills.
4. Finishing touches included adding a carpet, signage, and roof to complete the virtual foyer environment.
The document proposes a mobile game called "Mash the Money Men" where players take on the role of a disembodied arm representing the general public. The goal is to punch "Money Men" characters, who represent faceless bankers responsible for the recession, and make them drop cash bags which increases the player's "money reclaimed" score. The gameplay and scoring systems are designed to be simple, with points earned by hitting Money Men to reclaim stolen public money. When enough cash is reclaimed, the player can leave the game and return the funds to the public.

Assessor name Iain Goodyear
Assignment title CREATING A SAMPLE LIBRARY
The purpose of this assignment is to:
Develop your ability to analyse and discuss the use of sound and music in computer games.
Use field recording and computer audio synthesis to create a sound sample library for use in computer games.
Scenario
Sound is an essential part of the computer game experience. Forming 50% of our sensory experience, and good game soundtrack
can enhance our pleasure of a computer game and help bridge the ever decreasing gap between games and more traditional
forms of storytelling such as films.
Reverb Studios specialise in soundtrack production for computer games and are seeking to add to their already comprehensive
sound libraries. Reverb Studios sound libraries have been used to soundtrack a large variety of games produced over the last
decade, most recently Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
You are tasked with producing individual sound samples and short musical compositions for games of the following genre:
Action
Science Fiction
Retro/Classic
Fantasy
Puzzle
It is expected that you will produce sound samples through a combination of computer VST generated audio and live sound
recordings that have been manipulated and altered through VST effects.
All samples that you produce will be uploaded to a centrally stored sample library and must be labelled according to producer
initials and game genre.
In addition to producing your samples and musical compositions, you must provide analysis of how sound design enhances
computer games. For this, you will need to provide audio visual examples that should be embedded in your Unit 73 blog and
accompanied with word processed OR voice recorded analysis. This analysis should comment on:
1. How you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques)
2. What post-production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack (using subject specific terminology)
3. How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences
Good Luck!

2. Tasks Grading Criteria Mapping
Task 1
Analyse the use of sound design in computer games. Unit 73 P1/M1/D1
Using the analysis prompts outlined in the assignment brief scenario, you must gather and embed Unit 73 P2/M2/D2
audio visual examples of sound design in computer games specific to the game genres specified in the Unit 2 P2/M2/D2
assignment scenario.
Analysis of the sound design can be word processed OR voice recorded and must be included OR
embedded (if voice recorded) underneath your chosen example.
All blog posts you produce MUST include the same generic title of Creating a Sample Library
Assignment Task 1: followed by the title of the blog post.
*All blog posts for this task must be linked to your unit 73 criteria 1 blog label.
Task 2
Produce individual sound samples and short musical compositions for games of the following genre: Unit 73 P3/M3/D3
Action
Science Fiction
Retro/Classic
Fantasy
Puzzle
Your sound samples must be produced using a combination of VST computer plug-ins, audio effects
processors and live audio recordings. Your samples must be uploaded to your unit 73 blog using the
generic title of Creating a Sample Library Assignment Task 2: followed by your initials, the
relevant game genre and a sample type description
