Please read this week's reading. In chapter 7 the author goes into the wastewater process very deeply. Please describe your understanding of the entire process and the way you think the process will be changed in the future.

I apologize to the class for my tardiness of this week’s forum. My workload was increased this week. I was volunteered to update some of our procedures in our unit, so my off days have been at our facility.
I did, however had the chance to get some firsthand knowledge of the practices we do in our facility when dealing with waste water. We have several areas that check the water of impurities, as well as recycle process water back into the units after filtration processes. We also have specific equipment that has built in filtering units so that they can continuously use the same water by adding more volume as the water evaporates.
Another great thing we have is a control for our outfalls to public waterways. We have three collection ponds that hold water and treats it in various stages. What this does is allows us to hold all runoff water so that we discharge nothing but pure and safe water. Each area is monitored and treated differently, going from first stage to discharge. If the water fails any quality test it is held on location until it will pass.
I cannot really go into detail about the exact process that goes through on our site, but seeing the extensive on-site equipment was a peace of mind knowing everything leaving our units was treated correctly and isolated if failing quality.
To go into what our text has described, what I understand from this is that there are certain characteristics that define what is in waste water. As the water is tested and examined, the type of contaminates can be understood; as well as what is needed to treat the water so that it can be considered safe again.
The initial treatment is the preliminary treatment. This is when the water is being treated by removing the most obvious contaminates. This treatment is part of the physical operations, which is forcing the contaminates out physically.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Abstract:
This report presents the percentage recoveries found when using the solid–liquid and liquid–liquid
extraction techniques to extract a strong acid, weak acid, base, and neutral compound from a
mixture. During the solid–liquid section of the experiment, 0.5 M NaHCO , 0.5 M NaOH, 0.5 M
HCl, and distilled water are used to dissolve and separate the acid, phenol, and amine solutions from
the mixture, leaving the neutral compound remaining. After adding 3 M HCl to the acid and phenol
solutions and3 M NaOH to the amine solution, the solutions and solids formed were filtered and the
percent recovery of each was calculated. The percent recovery was around a range of 20 % to 22 %
for the acid, phenol, and amine, but the neutral had a much higher percentage about 60 %. After
using similar techniques for the liquid–liquid extraction section of the experiment, removing the
clear lower layer of the two immiscible liquids each time, the percent recovery was around 50 % –
55% for the acid and neutral. The percentages for the phenol and amine were lower. In both sections
of the experiment, some percentage of the acid, phenol, amine, and neutral compounds was
recovered, so that part of the experiment was successful.

Special care was taken to ensure that the spin column did not come in contact with the flow–
through. Since the chDNA is bound to the silica at this point, they must be separated using two wash
buffers. The initial 500 μl of buffer (AW1: Wash Buffer 1) was added in order to remove
contaminants and proteins that could be in the sample using chaotropic salts (Qiagen, 2006). After
centrifuging the sample for 60 seconds at maximum speed, 500 μl of Wash Buffer 2 (AW2) was

treated with NaOH to deprotonate benzoic acid, the newly formed sodium benzoate transitioned to
the aqueous layer as a sodium salt. Benzoic acid is regenerated once again after the addition of HCl
and became insoluble in the aqueous layer after protonation. Its precipitation was then filtered out
for a 65.87% recovery. Compared to its literature melting point of 122.41C, the resulting 120.9C–
123.5C melting range of the sample also supports the accuracy of the separation due to its
similarities and high percent yield. In conclusion, the usage of base and acid liquid extraction was
mostly successful in this experiment because it was able to efficiently and properly isolate the
