The document discusses the impacts of COVID-19 in the Philippines. It notes that the Philippine economy contracted significantly due to lockdown measures, with GDP declining by over 9% in 2020. Unemployment increased sharply as businesses closed and foreign direct investment declined. The pandemic also negatively impacted people's mental health and increased issues like anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Moving forward, workplaces need flexible arrangements and a focus on employee wellbeing to adjust to long-term impacts of the pandemic.

Handouts on Rapid Analysis of Innovation Response to Covid-19 Pandemic in Nig...KTN
In January 2020, the World Health Organization confirmed that a novel coronavirus was the cause of a respiratory illness in a cluster in Wuhan, China. Since then, the virus has spread all over the world and the year 2020 has become synonymous with this spread and the global response to it.
Africa has not been spared, with the continent recording its first case in February 2020. This global pandemic has continued its devastation in Africa. By the end of June 2020, the situation in our three focus countries were as follows: Kenya (over 6,000 cases and 144 deaths), Nigeria (over 25,000 cases and over 570 deaths) and South Africa (over 150,000 cases and more than 2,650 deaths). This has led to many within the national innovation ecosystems in the three countries to look for ways to address the impacts of the pandemic.
In order to track the impact of the pandemic, AfriLabs and the KTN Global Alliance worked together to deliver a rapid analysis of innovation response to COVID-19 pandemic in Africa, with focus on Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. The aim of the analysis was to inform the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) and the KTN Global Alliance on how to render effective support to innovation systems in Africa to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to provide lessons and best practices to strengthen the innovation response to future crises.

Every century has witnessed the pandemic and 21st Century has come across Corona virus disease which had broke in November 2019. Spread of this virus has shaken the entire world and has made an impact on every aspect of individual and business. Between family and working, the pandemic has significantly altered the way we live our lives and for millions this has meant a sudden shift to remote environment as authorities' emphases the importance of social distancing. This paper attempts to explore the work from home and describes its impact on work life balance during covid 19. The study is descriptive in nature and based on both primary data collected through structured questionnaire and secondary data obtained from news papers, journal and magazines. The main contribution of this work lies in assisting the employees in knowing the impact and understanding that with right priorities, proper transition, routine, effective communication, fair expectation a satisfactory work life balance can be enhanced. Effect of Covid-19 Pandemic among Rice Retailers in Nueva EcijaIJAEMSJORNAL
This research studied the effect of the COVID 19 Pandemic on selected rice retailers in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. The researchers made use of guided survey questionnaires and phone calls to reach out to the 58 respondents of the study. The researchers found out that: Majority of the rice sellers considered themselves as greatly affected by COVID 19 Pandemic. Their diverse explanations were due to (a) the scheduling or selecting of those allowed to travel to the market, and (b) limiting kilos per person to serve the full town. Most of them stated that their sales decline by 50 percent at the time of COVID. Their financial issues were on collection rental payments and on wages of staff. Almost all of the rice retailers believe that their firm will survive even in these hard times. Regarding government aid, the majority of them indicated that they are not supported by the government while the remaining respondents claimed that they received help from the government and that the aid was given through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
