1. To whom it may concern:
History
My working career commenced as a nurse at Grootte Schuur Hospital in Cape Town in
1976 and changed to the Administration side at Tygerberg Hospital after the birth of my
first child. I remained with the Cape Provincial Administration as a Data Typist working
on the first computers, until my husband (who was in the banking sector) was relocated
to Klerksdorp in 1984. I then continued working for Medical Specialists at the
Klerksdorp Medical Benefit society until he was once again relocated to Harrismith,
where I obtained a position as a PR and Receptionist at the Toyota Group’s Camargue
Transport Systems, an Engineering company who manufactured Marine Containers.
After working with the company for 3 years I was retrenched due to closure of the
Company. I then started working for a Medical Specialist at Hoogland Medical Centre in
Bethlehem, where I remained till my husband was once again transferred to the Vaal
Triangle. For 5 years I commuted and worked for An Electrical Engineering Company in
Midrand, who were doing the Engineering on all the new connections in the rural areas
for Eskom. My duties included Public Relations, financial and quantity surveying of
reticulation lines.
In 2004 obtained a position with a Quantity Surveying Company, C&L Developments
and started my career as contractor. Initially I was with BHP Billiton until my services
were required at Sasol
Sasol
In June 2005 my career started at Sasol Technology where I have been ever since.
Starting off, my duties were as QS, working mainly on shutdowns. My services were
then required to assist Sasol Technology in closing out (Capitalising) a mega project. I
then moved to Natref where I continued as cost controller on small, medium and large
projects. I remained at Natref for ten years, where I gained vast experience in working
in the unique Joint Venture environment.
Apart from a cost controller’s duties I had the privilege of also training new cost
controllers, who have since moved on in their career. I have gained vast experience in
all aspects in the Project environment, Intercompany liaison, working on major refinery
shutdowns achieving good Safety records, and received value recognition in 2012 from
the ex- managing Director of Natref for Customer focus.
Because I managed myself, I continued to maintain further training to better myself. I
attended the following courses:
Applied fundamentals of project management - (2008)
NEC3 – Introduction to the NEC3(ECC) – (2008)
NEC3 M1 – ECC Project manager and supervisors duties (2008)
2. NEC3 M2 –ECC Planning and Programming (2008)
NEC3 M3 –ECC Schedule of cost components (2008)
Fire Training, Emergency Preparedness training (2008)
Positive Power and Influence programme – (2009)
Personal resilience – (2010)
Positive negotiation skills – (2010)
Assertiveness Skills – (2011)
Manage self-Development programme – (2011)
Capital Project risk Management – (2011)

Pre- feasibility, feasibility and basic engineering
From 2012 my contract changed from being directly with Sasol Technology, when I
formed part of the Natref Clean Fuels II project team as their Cost controller. This
project was to enable the refinery to comply with the Euro 5 Specifications. I was
involved from pre-feasibility, feasibility and we had just completed basic engineering
when the project has was put on hold, resulting in the termination of my contract in
January 2015.
