the needed word or
phrase to complete the
information about Ionic
Bonding .
3. IONIC BONDING
Chemical bonding is the attraction between atoms/
elements to form new molecules/ substance/ compounds.
The two type of chemical bonding are _______ and covalent
bonding. Ionic bonding is characterized of losing/ gaining
valence electron. It is a bond between metal and _______
elements. In ionic bonding, metal is the cation because it
becomes ______ charged as it loses its electron, while the
non- matel is the anion because it _______ as it takesthe
valence electron. Given the example of NaCl, Na is the
______ and Cl is the ______.
4. IONIC BONDING
Chemical bonding is the attraction between atoms/
elements to form new molecules/ substance/ compounds.
The two type of chemical bonding are IONIC and covalent
bonding. Ionic bonding is characterized of losing/ gaining
valence electron. It is a bond between metal and NON-
METAL elements. In ionic bonding, metal is the cation
because it becomes POSITIVELY charged as it loses its
electron, while the non- matel is the anion because it
NEAGTIVELY as it takes the valence electron. Given the
example of NaCl, Na is the CATION and Cl is the ANION.
5. WH (& H) QUESTIONS
These questions are questions that use specific
words starting with the letters “wh,” like “who,”
“when,” and “what.” “How” is also often included
in this list. These words are often used when we
want to request information from someone.
9. Questions:
.
1. What is the story all about?
2. Who are the main character in the story?
3. Where does the characters meet?
4. When were the characters become
friends?
5. Why does the character becomes
comfortable and ease with one another?
10. Covalent Bond
.
Aside from ionic bonding,
covalent bonding is another form
of chemical bonding. This
bonding is characterized by the
sharing of electrons.
12. SHARING

17. ➢A covalent bond is a chemical bond that involves the
sharing of electrons to form electron pairs between
atoms. These electron pairs are known as shared pairs or
bonding pairs.
➢Covalent bonding usually occurs between two or more
non metal elements.
➢This non metal elements are usually located on Family
IVA or Carbon group to Family VIIA or Halogens. Family
VIII or the noble gases.
18. ➢Noble gases even though nonmetals doesn’t bond
with other elements, because elements belong to
this group are all stable or have 8 valence
electrons.
➢Elements tends to bond with another elements to
have stability or have 8 valence electrons.
➢Name some non metal elements.
19. ➢Covalent bond are classified into two, the polar covalent
bond and the not polar covalent bond. The type of bond
can be determine by finding the electronegativity
difference between the elements.
➢To determine whether the element and compound form
was polar or non-polar, Identify first the electronegativity
of the given element. Subtract the electronegativity of
the lower value to the higher value. If the
electronegativity difference has a value of 0.5 and below,
it is non polar and if the electronegativity difference has
a value of 0.6 to 1.67 it is polar.
20. ➢Aside from polarity, the two are also differs on
how they shared electrons. Polar covalent bond is
characterized by unequal sharing of electrons ( so
electrons can have slight charge either positive or
negative, while non polar covalent bond is
characterized by equal sharing of electrons (
usually between same elements).
➢The element’s valence electron is the one being
shared by elements to form compound or covalent
compounds.
22. Steps in identifying Polar or Non-Polar Bond
1. Identify whether the element and compound form was polar or
non-polar.
➢Identify first the electronegativity of the given element.
➢Subtract the electronegativity of the lower value to the higher
value.
➢If the electronegativity difference has a value of 0.5 and below,
it is non polar and if the electronegativity difference has a
value of 0.6 to 1.67 it is polar.
2. Determine the valence electrons of the given elements by looking
the family number of the element.
23. Steps in identifying Polar or Non-Polar Bond
3. Construct the bonding by doing Lewis
Structure first, and then bond them using lines to
have 8 VE.

compound form.

29. Covalent bonding is the
_____________ of electrons. It occurs between
two or more ___________ elements. There are
