Course Assignments
In this course, you are expected to write a 6–10-page research paper, outlining a communications
outreach campaign. The paper will also form the foundation for your voiceover PowerPoint
presentation, which is due in Module 7.
You may select one of two options to complete your paper:
Option 1
Think about the health care organization you work in, or an organization in your community with which
you are familiar. Assume that you are a mid-level manager and want to implement an outreach
campaign to target a particular group that is not accessing your services. You want to develop a
communications plan to create awareness of and cultivate buy-in for the service. An example might be
making hospice services available to the Native American community. You will need to present this plan
before your Board of Directors for approval. The fiscal climate is challenging, so you will need to use
available data to develop an evidence-based persuasive paper.
In your paper, you must address the following areas:
Describe the organization, including services provided and service region.
Describe for the board of directors the target group you want to bring in. If you are targeting a
particular service or product for the group, describe that as well.
Include demographic data for the region served by the organization, with particular focus on
current numbers and projected increases for certain cultural groups, if any. You may look at
many facets of culture here, including but not limited to ethnicity, race, age, socioeconomic
status, or gender. This data can be found on your state’s health department website.
Identify current communication technologies that you plan to use for this target group, and
explain your choices. If you cannot find a technology that is culturally or environmentally
appropriate for the group, explain why and describe other ways to reach out to the group.
Provide a rich and detailed description for your communication campaign to the board and
request approval. Your presentation should “sell” the Board on the communications campaign
for the target cultural group using what you consider to be the best currently available
technology.
Option 2
Think about the health care organization you work in, or an organization in your community with which
you are familiar. Assume that you are a manager for a hospital surgical unit and want to implement an
outreach campaign to market the availability of a new medical procedure, such as a heart, liver, renal,
bariatric, neurological, or other surgical procedure. You want to develop a communications plan to
create awareness of and cultivate buy-in for the service. An example might be robot-assisted cardiac
surgery. You will need to present this plan before your Board of Directors for approval. The fiscal climate
is challenging, so you will need to use available data to develop an evidence-based persuasive paper..

1. “Let’s Stop HIV Together” is a communication campaign (from the readings, on CDC’s site). It is an anti-
stigma campaign featuring individuals with HIV who share their personal stories along with friends and family.
It promotes a call to Americans to join the fight against HIV. How would a health educator apply the concept of
segmentation from communications campaigns to an intervention? Explain three specific examples of how
you think segmentation could be applied to this campaign to ensure relevance of the message.
2. Your health office wants to develop a program like CDC’s “One Test. Two Lives.” It is a communication
campaign (from the readings, on CDC’s site) to encourage health care providers to test pregnant women for
HIV infection. You are not sure whether the CDC program is applicable to your community. You decide to
conduct formative research to evaluate this. Explain three specific examples of how you think formative
research could be applied to the development of a campaign to ensure relevance of the message to your
community.
3. Answer ALL parts of this question: You have been awarded a grant for a community’s anti-bullying
campaign, and you want to enlist the help of the local elementary school. The school has a very diverse
population of students, faculty, staff, and administrators, and it strongly supports equality and respect. In this
school, children are allowed to wear clothing and other symbols of their respect for their religions, such as hijab
(head covering) for Muslim girls, and necklaces with a cross or a Star of David. The school would like for you
to enlist the students at the school to assist with anti-bullying education in the rest of the community. What is
one way that you might you help the students tailor their messages without stigmatizing or stereotyping any
individuals at the school? Who will keep the project going after the funding has ended? Why would they be
interested in doing so? What might be one specific barrier to the program’s sustainability? How can you
apply a strategy based on theory to overcome that barrier? Be specific. In your answer, include the theory and
the construct from the theory that you propose using.
4. Answer ALL parts of this question: You have been awarded a grant to promote healthier eating behaviors
among NAU students. You want to enlist the help of selected students whom you believe would promote the
campaign. The grant funders have asked that you enlist support from diverse student groups. What is one
way that you might select students who represent NAU without stigmatizing or stereotyping any individuals?
How can they help you tailor messages to reach the widest array of the student population in a culturally
competent and respectful way? Who will keep the project going at NAU after you have graduated? Why

For this assessment you will create an 8-12 slide PowerPoint presentation for one or more stakeholder or leadership groups to generate interest and buy-in for the plan proposal you developed for the third assessment.
As a current or future nurse leader, you may be called upon to present to stakeholders and leadership about projects that you have been involved in or wish to implement. The ability to communicate a plan—and potential implications of not pursuing such a plan—to stakeholders effectively can be critically important in creating awareness and buy-in, as well as building your personal and professional brand in your organization. It is equally important that you know how to create compelling presentations for others' delivery and ensure that they convey the same content you would deliver if you were the presenter.
Demonstration of Proficiency
Competency 1: Explain strategies for managing human and financial resources to promote organizational health.
Explain how the interdisciplinary plan could be implemented and how the human and financial resources would be managed.
Competency 2: Explain how interdisciplinary collaboration can be used to achieve desired patient and systems outcomes.
Explain an organizational or patient issue for which a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach would help achieve a specific improvement goal.
Competency 3: Describe ways to incorporate evidence-based practice within an interdisciplinary team.
Summarize an evidence-based interdisciplinary plan to address an organizational or patient issue.
Propose evidence-based criteria that could be used to evaluate the degree to which the project was successful in achieving the improvement goal.
Competency 5: Apply professional, scholarly, evidence-based communication strategies to impact patient, interdisciplinary team, and systems outcomes.
Communicate the PowerPoint presentation of the interdisciplinary improvement plan to stakeholders in a professional, respectful manner, with writing that is clear, logically organized, with correct grammar and spelling, using current APA style.
Professional Context
This assessment will provide you with an opportunity to sharpen your ability to create a professional presentation to stakeholders. In this presentation, you will explain the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle and how it can be used to introduce the plan (P), implement the plan (D), study the effectiveness of the plan (S), and act on what is learned (A) to drive continuous improvement. By using this cycle, the stakeholders will have a tool and a proposal to expand on these ideas to drive workplace change and create improved processes to solve an interprofessional collaboration problem.

COH 499 Capstone
The capstone paper will serve as a valuable tool for your self-assessment of your competency level across the eight domains of the core competencies for Public Health Professionals. The Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals1 (i.e., Core Competencies) are a consensus set of foundational skills for the broad practice of public health, as defined by the 10 Essential Public Health Services. The Core Competencies are organized into eight skill areas or domains that cut across public health disciplines. The purpose of this assessment is to help you explore your level of competence within these eight domains. Please note that the signature assignment instructions include content directly from the competencies document.
By assessing your level of knowledge or skill for each competency statement described, you will be able to prioritize your learning time to focus on the most critical areas and concentrate where the need for training and learning may be greatest.
The competency assessment is divided into the following eight domains:
• Analytical/Assessment Skills
• Policy Development/Program Planning Skills
• Communication Skills
• Cultural Competency Skills
• Community Dimensions of Practice Skills
• Public Health Sciences Skills
• Financial Planning and Management Skills
• Leadership and Systems Thinking Skills
Tier 1 – Entry Level: Tier 1 competencies apply to public health professionals who carry out the day-to-day tasks of public health organizations and are not in management positions. Responsibilities of these professionals may include data collection and analysis, fieldwork, program planning, outreach, communications, customer service, and program support.
Instructions: Complete steps 1-3 for each domain.
1) Self-Perceived Proficiency: Read each competency statement listed within a domain. In each domain, and for each competency statement, think about the level at which you can perform the skill. Then rate your level of proficiency on each domain by selecting or highlighting the number on the domain from “None” (1) to “Proficient” (4) that best describes your self-reported level of expertise for that statement. Note: The competency statements listed in each domain should be interpreted as broadly as possible to apply to your position and principal employment setting. In the example below, you would select number “4” for “Proficient” if you think you are excelling at this domain or select “1” for “None” if you feel you need a great deal of improvement.
2) Evidence of Proficiency: At the end of each domain, please provide a detailed explanation of the required BSPH courses and/or approved public health experiences that helped you achieve the above-mentioned competency. Provide at least two examples of evidence and describe in detail how the assignments and/or projects helped you reach your perceived prof ...

Thank you for the help. This is a final assignment for my course. I have attached all assignments leading up to this final project. I have to stress this, its important that the directions are followed and the attachments can't be pasted or used for this project. The teacher will check and so will I. My social issue is Homelesness. This must be original work and please use the grading rubric as well. Any questions let me know. The attachments can be used as guidance for the paper so use wisely. I understand this is a final project and the amount i'm willing to pay is final and worth it. Thanks again.
The aim of this Capstone Project is to develop a research report integrating knowledge gained from previous submissions that demonstrates your ability to effectively utilize research pertinent to a social issue addressed in some capacity by a health and human services setting. As part of this culminating submission, you will provide a succinct but efficient overview of content areas examined in your written assignments from Weeks One through Four that will aid in the development of an original intervention (i.e., strategy, application, or technique) for human service professionals to utilize for your selected social issue. This model intervention must be of your own design as opposed to a review of an existing practice used to address this issue. You can, however, use your knowledge of best practices to inform your intervention. The Capstone Project is intended to demonstrate your mastery of all learning outcomes related to the B.A. program in Health and Human Services; therefore, successful completion will require reflection, critical thinking, and knowledge of subject matter areas addressed in previous coursework. You are strongly encouraged to refer to the culmination of resources (e.g., textbooks, articles, websites, library resources, etc.) in addition to those provided in the course in the development of your submission.
The Capstone Project will include five components. The first four parts will involve briefly summarizing the main points from each of your previous written assignments. Do not copy and paste content from these submissions.
Part I: Background of Social Issue (Week One Assignment; 1 page):

Write a letter to an official in your state or local government. (Choose the individual in the level of government that will best address your issue). The purpose of this letter is to advocate for action with regards to your chosen health care environment issue.
Introduction
Note: Each assessment in this course builds upon the work you have completed in previous assessments. Therefore, you must complete the assessments in the order in which they are presented.
As health care leaders, it is important to understand strategies for advocating and lobbying elected officials. This can lead to the development of policies or laws that can help drive improved equity and outcomes for all participants in the health care environment as well as a more sustainable financial future.
Background and Context
As a master's-level health care practitioner, you may be expected to implement plans to ensure that initiatives designed to take advantage of economic opportunities for the organization are rolled out successfully and can be sustained over multiple years. Additionally, it is important to be able to envision how an initiative could be implemented in different contexts and for different purposes to ensure the investment remains a viable and positive asset to your organization or care setting.
As a master's-level practitioner, you will often be challenged to influence the health care environment in a variety of ways. This influence can occur on a micro-level (implementing change on your unit, institution, community, or local organizations) or at a macro level (implementing change via state or federal regulations and policy). One way you can influence the health care environment is by lobbying an elected official at the local, state, or national level to adopt policies or legislation that would support positive economic and health outcomes for patients, practitioners, and organizations within the health care environment.
Instructions
For this assessment, you will develop a letter to an official in your state or local government (choose the individual in the level of government that will best address your issue). The purpose of this letter is to advocate for action with regards to your chosen health care environment issue. Remember, when writing the letter, you must use your personal address and telephone number unless you are exclusively representing a group or your organization.
Be sure to address each main point. Review the assessment instructions and scoring guide, including performance-level descriptions for each criterion, to ensure you understand the work you will be asked to complete and how it will be assessed. In addition, note the requirements for document format and length and for supporting evidence.
Overall, your assessment submission will be assessed on the following criteria:

Advocating for new policies is an important aspect of the master’s-prepared nurse. For new policies to be compelling they need to be supported by evidence. Supporting data can be used to illustrate why new policies and interventions are needed to help address a specific health issue. Compelling data can help sway the stakeholders and gain support for your policy.

3Capstone Project: Public Health Competencies Paper
Signature Assignment
Name
School

It is equally important that you know how to create compelling presentations for others' delivery and ensure that they convey the same content you would deliver if you were the presenter.
You are encouraged to complete the Evidence-Based Practice: Basics and Guidelines activity before you develop the presentation. This activity consists of six questions that will create the opportunity to check your understanding of the fundamentals of evidence-based practice as well as ways to identify EBP in practice. The information gained from completing this formative will help promote success in the Stakeholder Presentation and demonstrate courseroom engagement—it requires just a few minutes of your time and is not graded.

InstructionsThe Public Archaeology Presentation invites you.docxvanesaburnand
Instructions
The Public Archaeology Presentation invites you to evaluate the public archaeology outreach of a site such as an archaeological excavation that is open to the public, an outdoor museum that is hosting or has hosted archaeological excavations, a museum with archaeological collections, etc.* Using the insight you have gained in this course about important topics in archaeology such as archaeological method and theory, subsistence, cultural patterns in prehistory, and environmental interaction, evaluate the ways in which, at the site you have chosen, the knowledge gained from archaeological excavations is being used, or is not being used, to highlight and address issues in the local, regional, or global communities. For example, current issues often addressed in public archaeology include historic preservation, economic growth, environmental degradation, looting, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education, volunteer opportunities, and more. You will present your findings to your classmates in the Week 8 Public Archaeology discussion in the form of a multimedia presentation.
Any of the sites listed above are ideal for this project. If you are considering a site and are unsure whether it would be suitable for the Public Archaeology Presentation, discuss the site with your instructor. If you are having trouble locating archaeological excavations or museums in your area, check with your local Chamber of Commerce or Tourism Bureau or the Anthropology department/professor at the nearest college or university. Some small sites have limited funding and are not able to advertise extensively.
Guidelines
Your assignment will take the form of a multimedia presentation, such as a YouTube video, blog, PowerPoint presentation, etc. Ideally, your presentation will include audio, but if this is not possible, your presentation must include sufficient text to explain your findings and conclusions.
By Wednesday of Week 8, you will submit a short introduction and a link to your presentation in a designated discussion area AND in the Assignments Folder (this allows me to provide you with private feedback and a grade). Your presentation must be shared online, but you may choose how to do so. There are many free tools out there. Check out the following website for some ideas:

.
Speak and/or write professionally using standard English. If speaking, pay attention to correct grammar and enunciation. If writing, check your spelling and grammar carefully. Poor grammar, spelling, and/or enunciation may affect your grade.
Your presentation must include a written References section in proper citation format detailing the sources you used.
Initial Research
Once you have chosen a site and your instructor has approved it, conduct research using the UMUC Library databases, the internet, and other sources (nearby public librarie.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Course Assignments In this course, you are expected to wri.docx
1. Course Assignments
In this course, you are expected to write a 6–10-page research
paper, outlining a communications
outreach campaign. The paper will also form the foundation for
your voiceover PowerPoint
presentation, which is due in Module 7.
You may select one of two options to complete your paper:
Option 1
Think about the health care organization you work in, or an
organization in your community with which
you are familiar. Assume that you are a mid-level manager and
want to implement an outreach
campaign to target a particular group that is not accessing your
services. You want to develop a
communications plan to create awareness of and cultivate buy-
in for the service. An example might be
making hospice services available to the Native American
community. You will need to present this plan
before your Board of Directors for approval. The fiscal climate
is challenging, so you will need to use
2. available data to develop an evidence-based persuasive paper.
In your paper, you must address the following areas:
Describe the organization, including services provided and
service region.
Describe for the board of directors the target group you want to
bring in. If you are targeting a
particular service or product for the group, describe that as
well.
Include demographic data for the region served by the
organization, with particular focus on
current numbers and projected increases for certain cultural
groups, if any. You may look at
many facets of culture here, including but not limited to
ethnicity, race, age, socioeconomic
status, or gender. This data can be found on your state’s health
department website.
Identify current communication technologies that you plan to
use for this target group, and
explain your choices. If you cannot find a technology that is
culturally or environmentally
appropriate for the group, explain why and describe other ways
to reach out to the group.
Provide a rich and detailed description for your communication
campaign to the board and
3. request approval. Your presentation should “sell” the Board on
the communications campaign
for the target cultural group using what you consider to be the
best currently available
technology.
Option 2
Think about the health care organization you work in, or an
organization in your community with which
you are familiar. Assume that you are a manager for a hospital
surgical unit and want to implement an
outreach campaign to market the availability of a new medical
procedure, such as a heart, liver, renal,
bariatric, neurological, or other surgical procedure. You want to
develop a communications plan to
create awareness of and cultivate buy-in for the service. An
example might be robot-assisted cardiac
surgery. You will need to present this plan before your Board of
Directors for approval. The fiscal climate
is challenging, so you will need to use available data to develop
an evidence-based persuasive paper.
In your paper, you must address the following areas:
4. Describe the organization, including services provided and
service region.
Describe for the board of directors the new service you want to
market. Identify for the board
the projected numbers of new patients and the procedures
related to the new service, including
pre-surgical, surgical, and post-surgical procedures.
Include demographic data for the region served by the
organization, with particular focus on
current numbers and projected increases for certain cultural
groups, if any. You may look at
many facets of culture here, including but not limited to
ethnicity, race, age, socioeconomic
status, or gender. This data can be found on your state’s health
department website. If you
intend to target your outreach to certain groups, please provide
demographic data specific to
these groups.
Identify technologies to be used for communications outreach,
and explain your choices. If you
cannot find a technology that is accessible or culturally
appropriate for certain groups, explain
why and describe other ways to reach out to them.
5. Provide a rich and detailed description for your campaign to
reach out to the community and
demonstrate how your recommended communication campaign
would increase revenue for the
organization.
Close with a request for board approval. Your presentation
should “sell” the Board on the
communications campaign for the new service using what you
consider to be the best currently
available technology.
The paper should be 6–10 pages in length, typed double-spaced
in 12-point font with 1-inch margins on
all sides. You should use APA (6th ed.) guidelines for writing
and citations.
The first part of this assignment will be due in Module 2. In
Module 2, you will identify the
organization you will focus on and briefly describe the option
you have chosen. Provide two
references from the Excelsior College Library that you plan to
use in your paper.
In Module 5, you will complete and submit an outline of the
option you select for your paper.
This will allow the instructor to provide you with feedback on
your outline to guide you in
6. successful submission of your major paper.
In Module 6, you will complete and submit your paper.
In Module 7, you will use the contents of your paper to develop
a persuasive voiceover
PowerPoint presentation. Please be sure to allot the necessary
time to read the materials on
how to develop a PowerPoint presentation and to learn how to
use the voiceover feature of the
software.

#1: Reflection Paper: Electronic Records as a Communication
Tool, Due Date: 7/2/2017
The use of electronic health records (EHR) or electronic
medical records (EMR) is increasing dramatically across the
United States health service industry. As a health care leader,
you need to be aware that the use of EHRs is required in this
patient-centric /patient-centered era. In fact, starting in 2015,
hospitals and doctors will be subject to financial penalties under
Medicare if they are not using EHRs. The rapidly growing
interest in using online communication has motivated
organizations to consider options for deploying these new tools
in clinical practice.
· Describe the barriers and challenges health care providers and
their organizations must address in developing and deploying
information technology tools for medical records.
· Take one of your identified challenges and suggest a way to
address this challenge, based on your research primarily, and
any professional experience secondarily. Justify your response.
Write the reflection paper in 2–3 pages in a Word document.
Please use complete sentences, not bulleted responses. Follow
the (6th edition) style for editing and citations.
#2: Final Paper: Submission of Option, Due Date: 7/2/2017
Now that you are familiar with the requirements and your
responsibility to choose one of the two options for your
research paper, this assignment entails informing your faculty
of your decision.
Specifically, you must complete the following:
· Post the option you have selected in the assignment box
below. Briefly describe your organization and what you intend
to focus on in no more than one paragraph.

to be the best currently available technology.
Option 2
Think about the health care organization you work in, or an
organization in your community with which you are familiar.
Assume that you are a manager for a hospital surgical unit and
want to implement an outreach campaign to market the
availability of a new medical procedure, such as a heart, liver,
renal, bariatric, neurological, or other surgical procedure. You
want to develop a communications plan to create awareness of
and cultivate buy-in for the service. An example might be robot-
assisted cardiac surgery. You will need to present this plan
before your Board of Directors for approval. The fiscal climate
is challenging, so you will need to use available data to develop
an evidence-based persuasive paper.
In your paper, you must address the following areas:
· Describe the organization, including services provided and
service region.
· Describe for the board of directors the new service you want
to market. Identify for the board the projected numbers of new
patients and the procedures related to the new service, including
pre-surgical, surgical, and post-surgical procedures.
· Include demographic data for the region served by the
organization, with particular focus on current numbers and
projected increases for certain cultural groups, if any. You may
look at many facets of culture here, including but not limited to
ethnicity, race, age, socioeconomic status, or gender. This data
can be found on your state's health department website. If you
intend to target your outreach to certain groups, please provide
demographic data specific to these groups.
· Identify technologies to be used for communications outreach,
10. and explain your choices. If you cannot find a technology that is
accessible or culturally appropriate for certain groups, explain
why and describe other ways to reach out to them.
· Provide a rich and detailed description for your campaign to
reach out to the community and demonstrate how your
recommended communication campaign would increase revenue
for the organization.
· Close with a request for board approval. Your presentation
should sell the Board on the communications campaign for the
new service using what you consider to be the best currently
available technology.
The paper should be 6–10 pages in length, typed double-spaced
in 12-point font with 1-inch margins on all sides. You should
use APA (6th ed) guidelines for writing and citations.
· The first part of this assignment will be due in Module 2. In
Module 2, you will identify the organization you will focus on
and briefly describe the option you have chosen. Provide two
references that you plan to use in your paper.
· In Module 5, you will complete and submit an outline of the
option you select for your paper. This will allow the instructor
to provide you with feedback on your outline to guide you in
successful submission of your major paper.
· In Module 6, you will complete and submit your paper.
· In Module 7, you will use the contents of your paper to
develop a persuasive voiceover PowerPoint presentation. Please
be sure to allot the necessary time to read the materials on how
to develop a PowerPoint presentation and to learn how to use
the voiceover feature of the software. Please be aware that you
will need Microsoft PowerPoint 7 or newer and a microphone to
complete your voiceover presentation.
#3: Reflection Paper: Giving and Receiving Health Information,
Due Date: 7/9/2017
Today, communications can be instantly transmitted with the
various technologies we use—and all too often abuse. However,
nothing is more significant than face-to-face communication
11. between patient and provider. Patients are quite diverse.
Patients of low-economic status are typically more fearful, less
informed, and talk less during medical exams. Physicians are
trained to ask questions which help them reach a decision or
diagnosis. The art of listening is a valuable skill. Health care
leaders must be aware of current approaches and techniques that
are evidence based and must work with medical personnel,
assuring they have current data and information that is patient
centered.
The traditional power difference between patients and providers
is manifested in conversations in which patients tend to
acquiesce and physicians to dominate. It may be important for
physicians to be in control. However, ineffective patient-
caregiver communications is hurtful for everyone involved.
Patients who do not have a strong sense of rapport with their
physician are more likely than others to sue for malpractice. To
some extent, medical mistakes are inevitable, but effective
communication can help minimize their occurrence.
Research the patient and provider communication in health care
using the library and the Internet. Apply your critical thinking
skills to write a reflection paper. Cite a minimum of three
evidence-based articles.
Address the following in your paper:
· What factors contribute to communication differences between
providers and patients? Describe these factors.
· How does the health care system support or interfere with
provider-patient communication?
· What is the manager’s role in trying to prevent
miscommunication? Provide examples.
· What is the manager’s role in addressing miscommunication
when it occurs? Provide examples.
· Imagine that you are a manager in a hospice setting and must
prepare an in-service for your clinical providers on
communication in regard to death when working with different
cultural groups such as African Americans, Latinos, Asians, or
Native Americans. Choose one of these groups and describe an
12. example of culturally relevant communication, utilizing the 5-
step planning process as described in your textbook.
(This assignment, including introduction, has been adapted
from: DuPré, A. (2010). Communicating About Health: Current
Issues and Perspectives. Oxford University Press.)
Write the reflection paper in 2–3 pages in a Word document.
Follow the APA (6th ed.) style for editing and citations.
#4: Assignment: Design and Deliver a PSA for a Target
Audience, Due Date: 7/23/2017
“It’s all coming together” was the slogan for the first ever
Medicare Part D educational and enrollment campaign. The
effort to provide prescription drug coverage to 37 million
beneficiaries was vast in scope and was considered an
astounding success. The creativity and dedication of the team of
professionals at the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services
(CMS), and the federal, state, and local sister agencies resulted
in prescription drug coverage for 95% of Medicare beneficiaries
by the end of the first Part D enrollment period. You will learn
what methods were used that resulted in such a high rate of
success.
You are a program director at a local public health agency that
has been asked to implement a major new national health
program within the next two years. The goal of this new
program is to dissuade the public from drinking sugary drinks.
The average adult consumes nearly 50 gallons of sugar-filled
beverages per year. As part of the national war on obesity, you
are charged with developing a public service announcement
(PSA) to educate the public on health risks associated with
sugary beverages and to encourage people to decrease the
amounts of these beverages consumed.
Review the methods that were used to implement the Medicare
Part D program and identify several ideas that you would find
valuable in your own initiative. Use these ideas to write a
compelling PSA. The public service announcement must be able
to convey a message to utilize a specific number or website for
information.
13. Include the following in this assignment:
· Write a PSA introducing your initiative on reducing
consumption of sugary drinks. Your entire PSA must be able to
be read aloud within 25 seconds.
· After your PSA, include two additional paragraphs. The first
paragraph should briefly describe the media you would select to
deliver the message and your reasons for selecting the media.
The second paragraph should describe what strategies you
utilized from the Medicare Part D campaign and why you found
these strategies helpful.
#5: Final Paper: Outline Submission, Due Date: 07/23/2017
Submit a bulleted outline for your final paper. Your 1–2 page
outline should include:
· A couple of bullet points on what you plan to cover in the
introduction section, including a brief description of the
organization, service provided, and service region
· Source for demographics data
· Outline of the content you intend to cover on data, cultural
groups, and technology
· A couple of bullet points on your conclusions
· Reference list in APA (6th ed.) format
#6: Final Paper: Paper Submission, Due Date: 7/30/2017
The paper should be 6–10 pages in length, typed double-spaced
in 12-point font with 1-inch margins on all sides. You should
use APA (6th ed.) guidelines for writing and citations.
#7: Presentation: Voiceover Persuasive PowerPoint to Board of
Directors, Due Date: 8/6/2017
Regardless of all the courses you may have taken throughout
your educational journey in health care, when you are involved
in interviews with organizational representatives, seldom will
you be asked about the coursework you completed. Instead, you
will be asked questions that will examine your critical thinking
skills, your oral communication skills, your written
communication skills, and your team building experiences.
14. You will be able to display all of these criteria in a voiceover
presentation to the Board of Directors.
Your assignment is to use your major paper to create a
PowerPoint voiceover presentation, as if you are presenting to
the “Board of Directors.” You will need PowerPoint with voice
narration capability (version 7 or newer) and a microphone to
complete this assignment. Your presentation should not exceed
10 minutes.
As you create your presentation, keep in mind that the “Board
of Directors” will evaluate the following and, as such, must be
included in this presentation:
· Introduction of self and topic: Establish your credibility and
clearly state purpose of presentation.
· The first content slide should include a professional-looking
picture and brief biography.
· Present quality data and facts related to proposed action you
want the Board to approve, with a reference page at the end of
the presentation.
· Organization of content should build to a conclusion.
· The conclusion should be well supported by your research and
persuasive towards approval of your proposal.
· Overall presentation should be strong, persuasive, and fact-
based.
· Your presentation should communicate enthusiasm and
confidence.
#8: Short Paper: Legislative Testimony, Due Date: 8/13/2017

for legislative testimony.
Your state legislative committee on health and human services
is holding a hearing on the insurance exchange. It has requested
you to appear before the committee and advise the committee on
whether or not your state should establish an insurance
15. exchange.
Write a one-page position paper that covers the following:
· Review the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as
it related to insurance exchanges.
· Take a position for or against a state insurance exchange.
Justify your position.
Your paper should outline your position to the committee. You
