Cranebrook High - Archibull Prize 2012 tells the story of cotton from seed to product in 3 sentences: The cotton seed needs soil, water and sunlight to germinate and grow into a plant with leaves and roots, then it produces a flower with the cotton boll that holds the precious cotton fibers which are harvested, processed, spun into yarn, dyed and designed into clothing and other textile products that are marketed and sold globally. After processing, the cotton waste is used as livestock feed or mulch to replenish soil nutrients for the next cotton crop.
