We notice in our music video
that the costumes chosen
where mostly bright and
unique to explain what type of
song it is
The women in the music video
where mostly wearing short
clothes to attract the male
attention- male gaze ( Laura
Mulvey)
A lot of casual open shirt
where used in the music
video this was most likely
to show that young
people wear shirt a
different way to older
people
Also hats and
sunglasses where
used to show that
young people are cool
and will where
sunglasses inside
What costumes we will be using in
our video?
We have chosen to wear leather jackets as it
will appeal to our target audience young
males as those are the people likely to be
wearing the same items and this can create
a sense of personal identity amongst are
audience – Bulmer and Katz theory
We have chosen to wear quite simple
tops throughout the music video as we
see that young people are simple and
easy to understand is the message we
wish to convey in the video.
For bottoms we have chosen to go with
jeans but in different colours as are target
audience are likely to be wearing jeans
when they go to the a party as they are
more causal and less formal also shoes will
be high top black trainers as most our
target audience wear these.
How will this impact my video?
• By research and planning into costume it will help
us be able to connected with the characters
through personal identity
• This can lead to social interaction as our target
audience could discuss with each other the
clothes we are wearing and will keep them
interested in the video.
• Bulmer and Kats theory influence our decision
when choosing are costumes. This is because we
thought it was the most effectiveness way to
reach out to are target audience
