Costume inspiration
- 1. I decided to look on the internet for ideas of what costume the doll could be wearing in our film opening. I found that most costumes were very light colours such as white, cream and lighter shades of other colours, this symbolises angelic and innocent colours, this is because dolls are usually seen as a positive character and not associated with blood or negative things. In our film opening we are going to use our doll character as the opposite of a traditional representation where the doll is the villain, we have decided to use both ideas of costume, using a light colour such as purple but a darker shade to show darkness. The black tights/socks with add to the darkness of the character to show the doll isn’t innocent and angelic as you would expect.
- 2. I decided to look on the internet for ideas of the costume that Nyran is going to wear. In most horror films the male character is usually the villain and isn’t the vulnerable character, which means they are usually wearing a costume to represent what they are (e.g. wearing a mask, face covered in blood) this makes it hard to find inspiration for our character costume. We feel that we can give Nyran a costume which most teenagers and the audience can relate with.
- 3. This our the costume for our doll that we are going to use in our horror film opening. As I am representing the doll as a human I took on the role to make and create two dresses for both me and the doll.
- 4. We are both wearing a similar purple dress with black tights/knee high socks this is so the audience will have a clear understanding that I am a human form of the doll in the film opening. I am going to curl my hair to look like the Doll’s so we look very similar. This is going to be similar make-up to the doll.
- 5. This is the costume Nyran is going to be wearing in the film opening. It’s everyday clothing for the character and the type of clothing he would wear everyday as its an ordinary day for him until he gets to the woods. We have chosen this costume as we feel that teenagers will be able to relate to him more. We have chosen the red coloured t-shirt to symbolise blood and death.
