• So is the internet 
• But they are the most cost effective mechanisms at the moment 
• Which makes them phenomenally important

• The first place many people will come to find out about the company 
• The place they will go if there is negative publicity 
• The destination of a possibly surprising number of customers 
• Where all jobseekers will go 
• Where other very important people will look
