Sara Lee Corporation is a global producer and marketer of high-quality brand packaged products such as meats, beverage as well as bakery goods. The company’s major brands comprise of Jimmy Dean, Ball Park, Hillshire Farm, Senseo, Sara Lee, and Douwe Egbets. The organization boasts of five business segments, including, North American Retail, North American Foodservice, and North American Fresh Bakery. The other two categories are the International Beverage and the International Bakery. After many years of restructuring, acquisitions plus divestment, Sara Lee has emerged as one of the largest multinational organizations in the United States courtesy of its innovative culture (SEC, 2010).
Sara Lee Corporation’s Corporate Culture
While traditionally linked with taste and indulgence, the company has managed to produce a variety of products through innovation. Clements and Thompson (2011), single out Sara Lee’s Soft and Smooth whole grain white bread as an innovative product that has enabled the company to appeal to white bread lovers. The white bread appearance, soft texture as well as taste are particularly important to mothers who struggled with resistance from their young ones who despise coarser textured bread. Hence, the company’s innovative culture aligns with the company’s marketing goal and objective of producing high-quality products. For example, Lamb, Hair, and McDaniel (2011) indicate that Sara Lee’s chief executive officer welcomed innovation when she authorized reinvigoration of the company Kiwi shoe polish, which is one of its legacy brands. The chief executive communicates with consumers, marketers, and retailers to determine their preferences before pushing workers to outside the box.
Sara Lee’s culture of innovation also aligns with the company’s business strategy. In 2004, the company unveiled a new brand segmentation strategy, Senseo product, and the single serve coffee system was brought into the United States market because of its innovative culture. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (2010) indicates that the company is committed to its long-term strategy of developing innovative products, focus on positive cash flow, and investment in the organizational structure. The company has also capitalized on the product development strategy to expand into other categories beyond its traditional frozen dessert brands. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission further asserts that the company’s business strategies are working, enabling it to move closer toward its goal of creating value for shareholders. Through brand segmentation strategy, the company is investing in different businesses.

Business Plan Assessment: Strategic Improvement
Strategic Planning & Implementation
9/6/2021
Strategic Improvement
The purpose of the strategic plan in week two assignments was to show how Mexican Chipotle plans to work towards its damaged reputation and earn consumer trust and confidence. As highlighted in the assignment, Chipotle has faced ethical blows in its operation, which led to its closure. However, after resuming its functionality, the company had lost its positive public image, affecting consumer trust and confidence. Therefore, developing a great and workable strategic plan is vital and paramount for Chipotle because it will restore its public image and improve its competitive advantage and attract more customers. Thus, Chipotle's strategic plan aims to attract customers, increase the company's competitive advantage, and increase the general productivity of the company.
The key objectives of Chipotle’s strategic plan are to maintain its existing customers and do the best it can to attract more customers. Such objectives can only be achieved if the company strategically plans and approaches market development aspects. For instance, after Niccol took over, he employed differentiation as a market development initiative in the company (Thompson, 2019). This is a strategy that targets a narrow market, hence improving the company’s overall competitive advantage. Chipotle intends to give its customers variations of products to choose from with a target for a narrow market. This will increase the competitive advantage within the company and strengthen its overall operations in the business market.
The strategic plan reveals that Chipotle is focused on improving its processes to ensure the safety of both the people and the environment. The company intends to strategically differentiate its products, with a focus on the production of food with only natural ingredients. Initially, Chipotle used to process products from both natural and synthetic materials. However, after the ethical blow where many customers suffered from food poisoning, the company has learned its lesson and resolved to focus on the safety and health of the consumers (Thompson, 2019). Niccol has ensured that Chipotle sources its rice, beans, and cilantro from organic suppliers. This implies that Chipotle is focusing on having the best food quality instead of saving money on ingredients. This will eventually turn the company into a healthy living entity, which will change the narrative regarding the reputation of the company into what consumers love.
Chipotle has a performance culture based on employee development and promotion of employees from within the company. Employees are given a path of ascension and opportunities to advance their employment levels and job positions. More so, the company provides the workers with a bal ...

Apple's SWOT Analysis and Strategic Scorecard
Introduction
One of the most important actions the management of a company can take towards improving a company's performance and competitiveness is to conduct a business environment scan. The output of a scan is the often the company's strengths, weaknesses, threats and available opportunities. The analysis should be followed by a set of recommendations on how the company can make use of strengths and opportunities, as well as how to improve the weaknesses. This paper will conduct a SWOT analysis on Apple Inc, then followed by a balanced scorecard assessment of the company.
SWOT Analysis
The internal environment of a company is a matrix of its financial position, management, employees, objective, and so forth. Apple Inc has enjoyed enviable financial success in the recent past and as such its strong financial position is its biggest strength. Currently, the company can afford to fund big acquisitions of other companies that can be useful in pursuit of its strategic goals. The financial strength means that other companies are willing to work with Apple because its operations can only get bigger. Another internal strength of the company is its team of employees who are innovative and highly motivated (Husso, 2011). The company does not have a hierarchy in management and all employees interact freely. The company also encourages employees to take responsibility for projects they work on. The result is high productivity. Another major strength of Apple Inc is the large portfolio of products that it sells customers which helps in boosting annual revenue as well as creating a brand image. Currently, customers know Apple as a producer of high quality and premium products. This makes it easier for the company to introduce new products into the market (Husso, 2011).
The company's major weakness lies in the high prices they charge for its products. Consumers are becoming more mindful of their spending habits due to economic conditions. Premium pricing has been Apple's marketing strategy but the company could be forced to relook the strategy due to consumer behaviors (Maltz, 2003). The company is also facing court cases regarding copyright infringement and this could result in fines against the company. This could hurt Apple's financial position and possibly force it to withdraw certain products from the company. Critics are also arguing that the company's innovative engine is starting to slow down compared to three years ago. The company's iPhone 5S is seen as only a slight improvement on the iPhone 4S. If consumers realize this they could begin to stop purchasing new products from the company (Husso, 2011).
On the positive side though, the company has an opportunity to make the iPad its biggest product yet. The company's tablet has ...

Control Example
Business Name: The Café Around the Corner
SMART Goal: Increase customer satisfaction by 10% within a six month time frame.
Criterion being Measured: customer satisfaction
Time Frame For Goal Completion: six months
Explain the system that you will create to track the success of this goal?
Every month, employee surveys will go out to the customers on our mailing list. There will also be surveys attached to each receipt to reach people that haven’t signed up for email. The surveys will ask a variety of questions meant to measure the customer experience and their opinion of Café Around the Corner. All surveys will be electronic and collected in an online database that management can access. The surveys will be sorted by the employee that took care of the customer.
Why is being reliable and completing this goal on time important to the business’ success?
Accomplishing these goals will increase the reputation and financial success of the business. It’s also important to reach these goals in a timely matter as other aspects of the business are relying on me to follow through with expectations. It’s important to be professional and reliable when faced with objectives to complete.
What adjustments will you make if you fall behind completing this goal?
I will continually track the survey scores as they come in. If the business starts to fall behind, I plan on bringing in outside consultants to work with my employees. The consultants will run twice a month trainings that will focus on improving customer satisfaction. Every employee is required to attend at least one a month.
I will also begin rewarding employees that have the highest survey scores at the end of the month. This will improve motivation and create a customer service focus in the business culture. Publically sharing the monthly winners will also create recognition among the employees. These two methods will cover intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

The purpose of the strategic plan in week two assignments was to show how Mexican Chipotle plans to work towards its damaged reputation and earn consumer trust and confidence.

This segment of Universal has had weak operating results for the past several years, including a large loss in 2013. Although the company does not reveal the operating results of its domestic passenger car segments, that part of Universal’s business is generally believed to be primarily responsible for the weak performance of its motor vehicle segment.

You have been assigned a reading by WMF Petrie; Diospolis Parva (posted as a pdf folder).
You needn’t read the whole volume; I would like you to concentrate on pp.(4-12) which outlines Petrie’s method.
Further information about Petrie’s method can be found in Bard in box 5-A, pp. 100-102.
For this discussion, answer the following questions;
1. Why does Petrie invent sequence dating? What kinds of artifacts does Petrie use to construct his relative sequence?
2. Why is the following statement important for “anchoring” Petrie’s method in time?
“The most clear series of derived forms is that of the wavy handled vases (Class W)…side by side with this (Class) W pottery… we have seen to be later than the rest, as it links to the historic age… lettered L,” (Petrie 1901:5).
3. Why do you think Petrie’s method reflects the passage of time?
Your answer should be 3-4 paragraphs.

Telehealth is defined as the use of telecommunications technologies to provide clinical health care at a distance. It allows nurses to assess, diagnose, and treat patients using telecommunications technology. Telehealth has expanded access to care for rural communities by enabling virtual visits and remote patient monitoring. The evidence shows that telehealth improves health outcomes for patients in remote areas by overcoming barriers to accessing specialists. A recommended strategy is for healthcare organizations to implement telehealth programs that use remote patient monitoring for chronic disease management in rural communities, as studies have found it reduces hospitalizations and healthcare costs while improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

30. business. A buyout of either OfficeMax or Office Depot would
improve Staples’ brand, add products, and
improve the firm’s economies of scale.
Europe and Australia stand out in Staples' international
operations. Contrasting with operations in other
foreign regions, all of Europe for Staples is profitable, with the
strongest performance in Germany.
Australia follows with improving Staples operations. Staples
has a goal to return $300 to $500 million back
to shareholders through its share purchasing program but many
analysts are bullish that this figure will be
exceeded and actually total $750 million. Staples has sufficient
resources to stage an exciting takeover of
OfficeMax and/or Office Depot if it chooses.
Staples actively supports Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a
national campaign that mobilizes adults and
children to close the early education achievement gap by setting
a reading world record. For the third
consecutive year, Staples in October 2011 hosted events in
Framingham and Worcester, Massachusetts to
give local youth the opportunity to participate in this unique
reading experience. In the last few years,
Staples has donated more than $100,000 to Jumpstart in support
31. of Read for the Record, and has helped
raise awareness of the early education crisis affecting millions
of at-risk children all over the world.
Investors and financial analysts believe that Staples’ rising
sales and profit can reverse 2011’s 35 percent
decline even as demand for office supplies falls. Shares of
Staples trade near a record low price-to-earnings
ratio and have lost less than rivals Office Depot and Office Max
which plunged 60 percent and 71 percent
