COOKIES
A Cookie is a variable that
is stored on the visitor’s
computer.
Each time the same computer request a
page with a browsers it will send the cookie
too. With java script, you can both create
and retrieve cookie values.
Cookies store information about visitor’s to
web site. This data
(i.e. Username, password and which part of
the site were used) is updated with every
visit.
Cookies were invented in 1994 by a 24
year old Programmer named Lou Montulli,
who claims to have invented the (blink)tag.
Types of Cookies
There are 3 types,
1] Name Cookie:
The first time a visitor arrives to your web
page. He or She must fill in her/his name. The
name is then stored in a cookie. Next time the
visitor arrives at your page. He or she could set a
welcome message like ”welcome John Deol”.
The name is retriered from the stored cookie.
2] Password cookie
The first time a visitor arrives to
your web page, he or she must fill in a
password. The password is then stored
in a cookie. Next time the visitor arrives
at your page. The password is returned
from the cookie.
3] Date cookie:
The first time a visitor arrives
to your web page, the current date is
stored in a cookie. Next time the
visistors arrives at your page, he or she
could get a message like “your last visit
web on Tuesday August 11, 2005!” The
