The System for Award Management (SAM) is a new system that combines nine legacy systems used by the federal government and contractors. SAM creates efficiencies for users and increases data quality while saving money. It launched in July 2012 and replaced the Central Contractor Registration and Online Representations and Certifications Application systems. Contractors with active registrations in these legacy systems can migrate their accounts to SAM. Those without active registrations or needing to register new entities must create new accounts and registrations in SAM. Assistance for contractors is available on the SAM website or by contacting a Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

– Log-in and click “Yes” when asked if you would like to “migrate a

– You will need your company DUNS number and the email address
associated with your CCR registration

registration in SAM
• To access and complete your
registration:
– Create a new Individual Account in SAM
– Log-in and click “Yes” when asked if you
would like to “migrate a legacy system
account”
– Select “Incomplete Registrations” from the
“Register/Update Entity” menu

• You have an expired registration in SAM
• To update and renew your registration:
– Create a new Individual Account in SAM
– Log-in and click “Yes” when asked if you
would like to “migrate a legacy system
account”
– Select “Complete Registrations” from the
“Register/Update Entity” menu if you were
previously registered in CCR and ORCA.
Select “Incomplete Registrations” if you were
previously registered in CCR only.
10. Contractors Creating New Registrations
• You will need to register your company
as a new entity
• To register your company:
– Create a new Individual Account in SAM
– Log-in and select “Register New Entity” from
the “Register/Update Entity” menu
– You will need your DUNS number, NAICS
codes, and banking information to complete
the registration
