2. Here is the first front cover page I produced, against the final
second one. I think there is a clear difference and
improvement, which is visible to the audience. I was able to do
this through further research on music magasines and genre
and the conventions.
3. Here is a variety of pictures I took using a professional camera called the
Canon EO6. I also used studio lights, so I could control the lighting adjusting
it to the right areas. The decision to change the photo is proved to be
successful. The effect of using my model as the front page as well was the
double page spread, allows me to follow a convention of a music magasine
and also enhances the flow of my magasine. Her red jumper also proves to
work well on the front cover, as it’s a vibrant colour which works well with the
red and black colour scheme of my magasine. My chosen picture as seen in
the front cover was edited on photoshop. I used the magic tool to erase the
background and imported the subject of the photo onto a new document,
making sure the background was transparent.
4. I decided to use a white
background as it created a
greater impact of the
magasine. It emphasises
the colours, font, picture
and headlines used. I also
used a vinyl as a subtle
background to add to the
theme of the magasine,
being music. I changed the
model as I think this flows
better and works well. Due
to the colours of her
clothing, it really
emphasies the colour
scheme throughout. I kept
the same font as it works
well and remains
consistent throughout the
production of my
magasine.
I also changed the layout of the text, which works well with the composition of the vinyl and the model. It
starts from the top and flows around the vinyl and posture of the model, creating a successful flow of my
front cover. I changed the vinyl’s opacity making it subtle but still noticeable. The use of the number ‘72’
automatically alerts the reader of which page to turn to. Due to the extra research I also found that the
model on the front cover is always big and bold, which was a catalyst of me changing the model. The use
of my own original pictures creates realism throughout my magasine. The first magasine looks messy and
out of place, whereas my new reconstructed front cover has a simple but effective layout, sticking to the
conventions of music magasines. I changed the names of the top of the front cover as the length of the
names works better and are at a equal length and height, making it look neat, tidy and compact.
5. Here I have made
minor changes, but
still stuck to the
conventions of a
music contents page
and the flow of my
magasine in general.
I changed the
seasonal year to
‘2015’, making it
more up to date and
real.
Also I changed the the lay out slightly so it stays rectangular, rather than a little of
balanced. I kept the same type phase and colours as it works well and have I
also used the same being ‘Helvetica’ on both the front page and double page
spread. I also kept the photos as they were original, and the first picture worked
really well with the stereotypical view of women in Hip-hop and R&B.
6. Here I have
changed the
headings of the
questions to the
interviewer. I used
the effect of drop
shadow for this, so
the red colour is
emphasised more.
It’s bold and
vibrant. The
change of the
layout is extremely
effective. As it
reflects the shape
of the images,
giving it a more
dynamic
composition
I also moved the text so it looks more real, and doesn't’
take the attention away from my models face. While
continuing to the same type phase, so it flows.
