2. Muscles of Medial Compartment
Following are the muscles that come in medial
compartment of thigh.
Gracilis
adductor longus
adductor brevis
adductor magnus
obturator externus.
20. Adductor Magnus (Conti)
Nerve Supply: -
As Adductor magnus have two portions
Adductor and hamstring portion so both have different
nerve supplies.
• Adductor Portion: -
Obturator Nerve
• Hamstring Portion: -
Sciatic Nerve
Root Value: -
L2, L3, L4
28. Blood supply
Blood Supply of medial compartment contains
following arteries and veins
• Profunda femoris artery & Vein
• Obturator artery & vein.
29. Profunda Femoris Artery
Profunda Femoris Artery
Large Artery.
Origin: -
Arises 1.5 inches
below Inguinal ligament
from femoral artery in
femoral triangle from
lateral side of artery.
30. Pathway of Artery
• Artery of thigh immediately passes:
posteriorly between the pectineus and
adductor longus muscles and then between
the adductor longus and adductor brevis
muscles.
• Then travels inferiorly between the adductor
longus and adductor magnus
31. Branches
Following are the branches of profunda femoral
Artery
• Medial femoral Circumflex artery
• Lateral femoral Circumflex artery
• Perforating Arteries
32. Medial femoral Circumflex artery
• This branch of profunda femoral artery gives
off muscular branches to medial facial
compartment.
• It also takes part in the formation of cruciate
anastomosis.
