Old Data Seeks Good Home Migrating Review DataIpro Tech
This document discusses migrating old review data to a new location. It evaluates how the existing data is stored and used, and whether it should be archived, migrated, or disposed of. The archive process involves removing data from the existing tool and documenting how it is stored. Validation is done to ensure all coding and metadata is correctly exported. Migration involves moving the archived data to a new review tool. Documentation of the entire process is important for ensuring it is defensible. Exceptions are noted and the legal team signs off before executing the archive and validating the migration.

This document discusses strategies for crafting effective recruitment messages to encourage older adults to volunteer. It examines the mixed emotions people feel about retirement, noting they miss the camaraderie and sense of purpose from work. Focus groups found that retirees are reluctant to acknowledge negative feelings about retirement. The research also explored the power of words and found that labels related to age are often offensive, while terms like "experience" are well-received. The document recommends recruitment messages should validate people's experiences and skills rather than focus on age or retirement.

The document provides information about a SharePoint Saturday event held on July 28, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky. The event featured a presentation by Patrick Tucker on managing enterprise content in SharePoint. The presentation covered defining and organizing content with content types and metadata, tracking and routing content, and managing and retaining content using features like records management and holds. It also provided information about the speaker and general event details like hashtags and footage from the event.
The document provides guidelines for managing content types in SharePoint, including establishing governance policies, creating standardized base content types, allowing customization through derived tailored content types while enforcing compliance, and recommendations for evolving content types over time in a controlled manner. Base content types should be immutable and centrally managed, while custom content types can deviate but should still seek to comply with governance policies and the information architecture. Proper use of content types on lists and libraries is important for findability, with recommendations around document templates and metadata fields.

UI5con 2024 - Bring Your Own Design SystemPeter Muessig
How do you combine the OpenUI5/SAPUI5 programming model with a design system that makes its controls available as Web Components? Since OpenUI5/SAPUI5 1.120, the framework supports the integration of any Web Components. This makes it possible, for example, to natively embed own Web Components of your design system which are created with Stencil. The integration embeds the Web Components in a way that they can be used naturally in XMLViews, like with standard UI5 controls, and can be bound with data binding. Learn how you can also make use of the Web Components base class in OpenUI5/SAPUI5 to also integrate your Web Components and get inspired by the solution to generate a custom UI5 library providing the Web Components control wrappers for the native ones.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.
Microservice Teams - How the cloud changes the way we workSven Peters
A lot of technical challenges and complexity come with building a cloud-native and distributed architecture. The way we develop backend software has fundamentally changed in the last ten years. Managing a microservices architecture demands a lot of us to ensure observability and operational resiliency. But did you also change the way you run your development teams?
Sven will talk about Atlassian’s journey from a monolith to a multi-tenanted architecture and how it affected the way the engineering teams work. You will learn how we shifted to service ownership, moved to more autonomous teams (and its challenges), and established platform and enablement teams.

Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)Julian Hyde
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.

Content Types Explained
• Every item in any list or library is based on a Content
Type
• Content Types are “item templates”, defining:
– Columns/metadata
– Workflows
– File templates (document Content Types only)
– Retention policies

Why We Should Use Content Types
• Scenario… We would like to store all Customer
Documents (Invoices and Quotes) in the same library,
but they require slightly different metadata
• Quote:
– Customer
– Account Manager
– Amount
– Date Raised
• Invoice:
– Customer
– Account Manager
– Amount
– Date Raised
– PO Number

Why We Should Use Content Types (cont.)
• Columns added to the library affect everything in
the library
• If we store them in separate libraries, we can’t
display them in the same view
• They might also require different workflows etc…
• Content Types are the answer!

Why We Should Use Content Types (cont.)
• Content Types allow us to have multiple types of
item in the same list or library
– E.g. Invoices and Quotes
• Content Types allow us to have the same type of
item in multiple lists or libraries
– E.g. Customer Documents in each regional Sales team
site

Creating & Managing Content Types
• Every site has a Content Types Gallery
– Includes out-of-the-box and custom Content Types
• Content Types are inherited from parent sites
• Additional Content Types are created and managed
at the appropriate site level

Adding Content Types to Lists & Libraries
• Content Types are a added to lists and libraries by Site
Owners
• This may require you to “Allow Management of Content
Types” in Advanced list/library settings
• A “local” list or library copy of the Content Type then
exists
• Changes made to site Content Types will automatically
filter down
– Not just for new items, but also existing
