Notes from the online course by Justin Jackson
“Amplification” which I highly recommend, by

How to post your content
How to work through networks
Communities and how to work with them
Simple writing tips
Inspiration and execution in creating content
Basics - I
Every post you write should include a link that
enables your readers to engage with you further.
This call to action could be an email sign-up
form, a link to a product or service, or a mention
of your Twitter account.
Basics - II
• Timing (date&time, time zones, what's
happening in the world)
• Initial traction (involve people in draft works –
ask for their opinion -> it will make them more
engaged, use your personal network, but
carefully!)
• Thank people for sharing and initiate
discussion.
Content Distribution Myths
• Whether we want it or not, our own personal
networks aren’t enough.
• There's this myth that good content always
gets discovered; but the truth is, good content
needs distribution in order to be seen.
How to deal with it?
• Get important people to talk about you
(Twitter, FB, their blogs)
• Put your content in places where it will get
noticed.
Connect with the network that's bigger
than yours.

Network is like a speaker for your iPod.
Connect your best content with the best
network.
Questions to ask yourself before you
start writing
•
•
•
•

What do you want to achieve?
What the main message?
Is it interesting/new/unique?
What else except making my point I want
to achieve with this?
Pick your audience
• People come first, not your goals, but people.
• Choose small groups. The ones u belong to
and know well.
• Treat content as a gift. Readers don't owe you
anything (they don’t have to love your
content, share or like it).
How to work with new communities
• Learn social norms
• Add value
• Then write
How to meet new people and expand
your network?
• - hang out with important people (how? Ask
them for lunch)
• - offer them to hold an interview
• - start your own meetup/volunteer at other
meetups/attend more events
• - take a class on something new
Communities drive traffic
• Tap into networks with a lot of people:
– Lifehacker
– Hacker News
– Inbound.org
– Reddit
• write with people in mind. Start with a group u
belong to already
• Echo of content might take time. Wait and observe!

Have no fear
When inspiration hits, write
Don't be boring
Add personality
Write to one person
Kiss (keep it simple, stupid) -focus on 1 thing
Good headlines
SSS - surprise, secretes, share
Voice out the question From ppls minds and
answer it
Where to get ideas?
• Whattowrite.org
• Helpmewrite.co
• Just ask your readers 
Inspiration
Inspiration is like fresh fruit or milk: It has an
expiration date. If you want to do
something, you’ve got to do it now. You can’t
put it on a shelf and wait two months to get
around to it. You can’t just say you’ll do it
later. Later, you won’t be pumped up about it
anymore.
