The goal of the Reflection paper is for you to (hopefully) find something- anything- that was
helpful, interesting, or relevant to you in this class. We've all had classes that we felt were a total
waste of time and we didn't learn anything or they were completely irrelevant to our lives. I hope
that this was not one of those classes. That's where the Reflection paper comes in!
Think about something you learned in this class- it could be how important effective and efficient
communication is; it could be how to recognize a stroke; it could be the features of a stutter;
ANYTHING! You can write broadly about the class in general, or you could get very specific. It
can be something related to your major, your future career, something current, or your life in the
future. I just want to know how or what you can take away from this class so that you know it
wasn't a waste of time. So much of what we have learned this semester will be relevant in your
lives at some point or another (i.e. stroke, dementia, the communication model, etc.). So,
whether you're a Business major, a Nursing major, an Engineering major, or a SLHS major, you
can think back to this class and recall something helpful in the future!
This paper should be from your personal perspective, so you can write in the first person (use I,
me, etc). It's informal, so you do not have to have any outside sources unless you want to
incorporate them. IF YOU DO, then cite them in APA format. I repeat- you do not need to have
any outside sources, but if you give a definition, a statistic, a specific detail, then you do have
cite that information.
The page limit is 1 pg. Depending on how much you want to say, you can double space it or
single space it, 11-12pt font. If you just loved the class that much, you can write a bit over 1
page. But try not to go over 2. Don't forget a TITLE and your name!
Communication Policy:
I have a 24-hour return email policy, excluding weekends. This means that if you email me Monday-Friday (Friday before 5pm), I will do my best to return your email within 24 hours. If you email me on a Friday after 5pm or on a weekend, it may take until Monday for me to respond. Emails must be addressed respectfully- this is not an instant message or a text. This means use an appropriate greeting (Good Morning, Hello, etc.) and an appropriate close (Thank you for helping, Regards, etc.). Check the syllabus before you send an email about class policy or assignments. I will not respond to emails when the answer is clearly available on the syllabus.
Course Overview:
The course is designed to introduce students to typical communicative processes and to disorders of communication through the lenses of assessment and intervention. The course provides an overview of typical speech, language, and hearing development across the lifespan as well as disorders of speech, language, and hearing as seen in children and adults. This syllabus is not set in stone and is subject to change at any time.
Course Description: This is a discussion-based course that will interrogate: the future, technology, sports, popular culture, and media. You will be using your selves as maps through our shared culture. We will explore how speculation can be a form of creative inquiry. We will watch films, listen to music, read books (it is university, you kind of have to read), and have conversations to make the argument that one of the best ways to know the world is to imagine it.
What do you get?: In exchange for your full participation, you will develop the skills to think critically about what you receive through all of your senses and sense-making apparatus. Thinking critically means that you can call “B.S.” when you see or hear it. You will learn how to formulate and defend written and spoken arguments; along with being able to see past the surface explanation of things. This means that when you call “B.S.”, you’ll be able to explain “why” you think this, as well as offer up information to bolster your point.
Learning Objectives:
(a) Students' papers consider questions of how values intersect with/influence/diverge from culture as they are addressed in a range of literary and visual texts produced across the globe.
(b) Students' papers require close reading of written texts and close examination of images, and articulation of the student's own understanding of them, while acknowledging the possibility of multiple interpretations.
(c) Papers require in-depth analysis of works and ideas, and attention to appropriate methods of inquiry in the humanities.
(d) Papers and course discussions require comparisons between works representing various global communities past and present, which ensures that students will gain understanding of other value systems and ways of life.
(e) Papers require close engagement with the works under study, stimulating students' appreciation of literature and the arts and laying an indispensable foundation for their active cultivation.
Course Requirements: Class participation is a must. If you want a good grade, you have to participate. We only meet 150 minutes per week, but if you work hard, I’ll work even harder.
Attendance: Come to class. It isn’t algebra. Show up, you learn and earn a grade. If you don’t show up, you miss out and your grade is negatively impacted. You get three (3) absences. After that, you lose two (5) points for each subsequent absence.
3x5 index cards: A 3x5 index card with your name, date, and a question about the current material is due at the start of each class period. These cards will be used as prompts to help engineer our class discussion. They are also a secondary attendance check.

This documents lists all the assignments for the week lesson that I have prepared. The point values of each assignment is also listed on this so you are aware how much each assignment is going to weigh into your total possible points for this chapter lesson.
This is the homework assigned Thursday November 19th 2009. If you are in periods 3 or 4 you are completing the first page. If you are period 5, or have special instruction by myself, then you are completing the second page.
Please keep in mind that this material will also be used for testing.
These are the images of galaxies that I would like you to sort according to their appropriate category using the KIM Strategy Sheet. If you are not familiar with the categories please review the 4.3 Galaxies have Different Sizes and Shapes Power Point.
Please cut out the pictures of the galaxies and sort them according to their shape. Group them and staple them in the appropriate column Memory Clue. The picture images should be stapled over the picture that you had hand drawn in- which was directed of you during the completion of the KIM Strategy Sheet.
This Pre-Assessment was given on Thursday November 12th 2009. If you were absent you are responsible to make up the points. This assessment was worth 20 points of the unit I will be lecturing on.
This is the rubric that I will be following during the week of the lessons that I am presenting. All categories will be taken into consideration when grades are sent to Mrs. Froberg.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
