Technology and
consumerism
EVOLUTION OFTECHNOLOGY AND
IT'S IMPACT ON CONSUMERISM
ADVANCEMENT OFTECHNOLOGY
• The internet was introduced to the public in 1994, and it has likely
been the single greatest jump forward in communication and
technology, enabling the instantaneous transmission of data,
documents, images (either still or moving) and voice.
• It has been created a variety of technology that has given us the web,
email, text messaging and a lot of applications, for example,
Facebook,Twitter and Skype and a lot others, that have dramatically
altered the way we connect.
What is Consumerism?
• Consumerism is a social and economic order that is based on the
systematic creation of a desire to purchase goods and services in ever
greater amounts.
Who?
•Big industries are always inventing and selling more and
better products in order to grow and convince people to
buy their products.
•This helps them to gain money, but at the same time it
helps the economy a lot.
WhatTechnology teens use and how they use it
• There are several types of newly developed pieces of technology that many
teenagers use nowadays.
• These often include smartphones, video game consoles, computers, and
smartwatches and others.
How teenagers are positively
affected by new technology
• Several supporters of technology claim that today's
cellphones offer teenagers new worlds full of opportunities
and they believe that understanding new technology is
essential for future success.
• New technology allows teenagers to define their personal
identity and establish their independence.
• Others view technology as a tool for personalizing education
and encouraging individual students' interests.
How teenagers are negatively
affected by new technology
• According to several scientists and educators, there has
been a decline in students' ability to concentrate and a
decline in grades relating to education.
• Scientist also claim that always being connected to
electronic devices can develop an inability to focus
throughout the day.
• Parents also worry about the presence of predators on
social networking sites and are alarmed by the threat of
cyber-bulling online.
Conclusion:
• With this project I learned that technology is very present in world in our day
to day life, being that it rates up the consumerism because through it people
are attracted to make online purchases and paid downloads..etc, mostly
because of the ads
